About the Trainer
Oahe Kennels, established in 1984, is owned and operated by Tom Ness in Menoken, North Dakota. They provide dog training services, specializing in obedience and gun dog training for all breeds, with a focus on Spaniels and Retrievers.
In addition to training, Oahe Kennels offers spacious heated indoor kennels with outdoor exercise rooms for boarding. They also breed and sell puppies, including Cocker, Springer, and Lab breeds, and offer started and trained dogs. All dogs in their breeding program are selected for temperament, soundness, natural retrieving ability, and drive, making them excellent hunting dogs and great household pets.
Accomplishments
Tom Ness was named the 2017 AKC Breeder of the Year and was inducted into the Bird Dog and Field Trial Hall of Fame. He began training hunting dogs in the mid-seventies and started training professionally in the early 1980s. Oahe Kennels has trained hundreds of gun dogs and has seen Cocker Spaniels return as a viable gundog choice.
