Testimonials

“Gina – Sophie is doing great. She is much calmer and loves her training that we do every day. You are a miracle worker. Thank you so much!!”
– Shelley K., Tacoma

“Thanks for checking on us. Henri [French Bulldog] is doing really well! He is so much better on leash, it makes our daily walks super fun and not frustrating anymore. His reaction to his prior “triggers” has diminished greatly. As you know, he used to freak out around skate boards and motorcycles, but now he just walks right past them- it’s amazing. His demeanor is much more calm and relaxed. We are continuing to work with him daily on commands to reinforce what he has learned at Camp Good Dog.”
– Katie Gray, Seattle

“Gina established a great rapport with our entire family and three poodles. We all enjoyed her visits to our home and the effective dog obedience methods she taught us. Gina is fun, extremely patient, always positive and very skilled at working with adults, kids and dogs. One of our poodles fell in love with her, and stood by the gate and cried every time she left! We would give Gina the highest recommendation!”
– The Crockett family

About the Trainer

ONE GOOD DOG! Professional Dog Training, founded in 2004, is dedicated to educating, coaching, teaching, and inspiring families to achieve a harmonious relationship with their dogs. Gina Johnson, the owner, aims to help dogs be happy and successful within their families by working to achieve lasting results through training, behavior modification, education, and management.

They are passionate about training both dogs and people, believing that purebreds and mixed breeds alike can learn to be well-mannered and obedient. The business emphasizes that learning should be a fun and positive experience for both dogs and their owners.

One Good Dog offers a variety of training options tailored for busy professionals and families, including behavior consultations, in-home private lessons, one-on-one coaching, and comprehensive day training. Their services cover socialization, obedience, manners, and behavior modification, providing simple and effective training solutions.

Their philosophy centers on the importance of adequate exercise, leadership, and training to transform even frustrating or destructive dogs into great companions. They advocate for a balanced training approach, utilizing positive reward-based methods like treats, praise, and petting, alongside fair, clear, and unemotional consequences to ensure learned behavior is maintained.

Leadership is taught as setting boundaries and encouraging dogs to earn rewards, rather than through forceful domination. They also highlight the need for mental and physical stimulation for dogs, noting that training and tricks can be as tiring as physical exercise. They aim to help owners understand dog psychology and motivate their dogs to succeed in the human world.
