Testimonials
Before Opportunity Barks, walks with my dog were stressful and frustrating — constant pulling, barking at other dogs, and major anxiety around trucks and other loud noises. We’d tried other programs, but nothing stuck. I was feeling helpless and hopeless.
From day one in the City Dog program, Ashlee and the team created a plan that worked. I quickly saw changes and finally felt like I could communicate with my dog. She was excited to go to school, and I started enjoying our walks again.
She’s not perfect yet, but now I have the tools and confidence to help her keep improving — and our bond is stronger than ever. Highly recommend!

Janet and the team at Opp Barks is fantastic. They do an amazing job of teaching real communication between you and your pup. They are extremely attentive and detailed. We saw a massive improvement between the beggining and end of class. Would highly reccomend for anyone looking for dog training basics and improved puppy communication

We have a 7 month old lab who has drive (high energy and has impulsive moments). We started our training journey at another puppy kindergarten but it wasn’t a good fit and wasn’t really addressing our puppy’s learning needs. We frequently felt like we had the bad dog in class. We were frustrated and wanted to help our dog become the best version of himself. Dogs are like people- they are all different and have varying personalities and learning/training requirements. They might not be easy to train. We read the description for the Knucklehead Foundations class and knew our guy was their poster child.
I almost cried at our first private lesson with Leigh. Someone finally really looked at our dog and could identify his needs and help us.
Between the Knucklehead classes with Janet and our private lessons we knew we made the correct decision to go to Opportunity Barks. They observed our pup and gave us tailored, real life skills to start working on our handling and finding his off switch. We finally feel like we found trainers that can help us achieve our goal. We are so grateful!

About the Trainer
Opportunity Barks Behavior & Training is a Philadelphia-based dog training business founded by Leigh, offering lifestyle-focused training that emphasizes real-world skills for dogs and their owners. They specialize in helping dogs with behavioral challenges like leash pulling, reactivity, fearfulness, and impulsivity—often referring to them as “baby alligators,” “knuckleheads,” and “reactive rovers.” Their services include Puppy Socials, Day School, Boarding School, Farm Dog® Adventure Days (with transportation from Old City), Group Classes, and Private Lessons. They operate from city studios and a 10-acre farm in Quakertown, PA, where dogs engage in off-leash hiking, sniffing, and recall training. Their approach is rooted in positive reinforcement and hands-on experience, with a team of trainers from backgrounds in veterinary medicine, rescue, and sheltering. They also offer ongoing support through Graduate Level Up packages and host specialty clinics like Play & GRC Dog Sports with Jay Jack. Their mission is to empower owners with practical tools to build stronger, calmer relationships with their dogs.
They provide transportation for Farm Dog® days from their Old City location Tuesday through Friday, and offer programs tailored to puppies (10 weeks–5 months), adolescents, and adult dogs. Their training focuses on impulse control, leash manners, recall, and confidence-building in urban and natural environments. They also run a community platform and podcast for dog owners.
Additional services include dog daycare, pet boarding, and a referral program. They are not a breeder, groomer, or pet store, but their Farm Dog® program includes trail access and pack care in a natural setting.
