About the Trainer
The Oshkosh Kennel Club is a dog training and events organization that offers group training classes in obedience, rally, agility, conformation, and scent work (nose work) under American Kennel Club (AKC) guidelines. Classes are held four times per year and are open to the public, including mixed breeds and purebreds. The club provides structured training sessions with an orientation requirement, and all dogs must have up-to-date vaccinations. Training occurs at their facility in Oshkosh, WI, and includes mat time, run-thrus, and trial preparation. The club also hosts AKC-sanctioned trials and events year-round, offering dog owners opportunities to compete and practice in a supportive, experienced environment. They emphasize community, volunteerism, and education, with monthly meetings and seminars featuring experts in dog care and training.
The club’s training programs are designed for dogs of all ages and breeds, with a focus on competition readiness and foundational skills. Aggressive dogs may be excused if behavior cannot be corrected. The Head Trainer is available via email for questions and accommodations. The facility includes cushioned mats and dedicated training areas for obedience, agility, and rally, and is used for both classes and official trials.
The club promotes purebred dogs through conformation shows but welcomes all dogs in training and non-conformation events. They also support veterinary medicine students through fundraising efforts, reflecting their commitment to the broader dog community.
Accomplishments
The Oshkosh Kennel Club has been an AKC-recognized Club of Record since May 16, 1970. It has hosted numerous AKC-sanctioned obedience, rally, agility, conformation, and Fast CAT trials annually since its founding in 1963. The club sponsors CGC testing, B-OB matches, and educational seminars. It maintains a long-standing reputation for well-run events and supportive community training.
