Out N’ About Dog Training offers several programs including Behavior Consulting and Training, Board and Train, Day Training, Puppy Training, and Specialty Classes.

Behavior Consulting and Training provides private, one-on-one sessions focusing on general training hurdles for dogs up to 8 months and serious behavior obstacles for dogs 9 months and older. These sessions teach practical cues and integrate them into daily interactions, addressing issues like barking, jumping, leash pulling, aggression, fear, anxiety, and resource guarding. Initial evaluations are conducted virtually.

The Board and Train program offers intensive training where dogs stay at Julie’s home for a minimum of three weeks, learning basic on-leash obedience cues in various environments. This program is not recommended for dogs with aggression or separation anxiety. A “New Puppy Jump Start Stay and Train Program” is available for pups under 20 weeks, running for two weeks with daily returns home and weekend breaks, focusing on socialization, foundation obedience, impulse control, and loose leash walking.

Day Training involves a trainer coming to the client’s house multiple times a week to train the dog while the owner is away, allowing the dog to stay in its familiar home environment. Owner transition sessions are conducted at the end of each package.

Puppy Training includes “Puppy Preschool” for puppies under 4 months, a hybrid class with virtual and in-person sessions focusing on social and emotional skills and basic cues. “Puppy Kindergarten” is for puppies under 7 months, building on preschool foundations with more focused behavior and impulse control around distractions. Both include off-leash play time.

Specialty Classes include “Adventure Dogs” for urban agility and engagement, “Adolescent Explorers” for customizable, on-the-go training for adolescent dogs, “Spicy Dogs” for leash reactivity practice (for existing clients), and “Zen Dogs” for cultivating calmness and mindfulness (for existing clients). These classes are designed to strengthen the bond and provide mental and physical enrichment.

Testimonials

“I have a 2 year old Shiba Inu named Corner who has the name for a reason… Julie was an amazing dog trainer and a very professional person! I have never gone to a trainer or had one come to the house before because I was afraid of how they would treat Corner since he is like a kid to me. I found Julie online and chose her specifically because of her training philosophy. I didn’t want Corner to be punished during training and Julie’s training program is based upon rewards. I am very impressed with this experience. Corner has had three sessions so far and has had remarkable improvements! He is a very smart/stubborn little guy and Julie knew just how to handle his antics. I highly recommend her to anyone! Its well worth it!”

“We wanted to make sure that our new pup, Zoe, was trained from an early age since we knew she was going to be a large dog and it’s no fun when 55 lbs of energetic fur doesn’t behave. After getting a referral from a former customer of Julie’s at a dog park we decided to give her a try. Julie’s approach to training was very effective & we easily related to it.”
– Andy & Jeana

“Lucky would not walk out the front door. She would sit down as soon as we put her collar on and she’d dig in her heels if we tried to move her. This has gotten progressively worse over the last few months. Julie had Lucky walking out the front door in the first five minutes she worked with her! And, using the techniques that Julie showed us, we’ve now gotten Lucky out the door, out the gate and down to the corner. Needless to say, we’re huge fans. Thank you Julie!”
