Dog Training Methodology

Methods:

  • Positive Reinforcement Only

Wildrose offers three main programs: “Gentleman’s Gundog” for waterfowl and upland hunting proficiency, focusing on steadiness, calmness, and natural hunting abilities. The “Adventure Dog” program trains dogs for various outdoor activities like hiking, biking, camping, and boating, making them versatile companions for both city and wilderness. “Therapy Companions” are trained for service, therapy, detection, and alerting, leveraging their calm temperament and scenting abilities, with the potential to transition to field work. They also offer hands-on retriever training and handlers’ workshops designed to enhance participants’ abilities and relationships with their Sporting Dogs.

About the Trainer

Wildrose Kennels, also known as Wildrose International, is described as the oldest, largest, and most diversified producer and trainer of British and Irish Labradors in North America, operating since 1972. They are renowned for producing the “Gentleman’s Gundog” from 100% imported genetics, known for superb temperament and natural game-finding abilities, making them compatible both in the home and dynamic in the field or marsh.

They also offer the “Wildrose Adventure Dog” program, preparing dogs for various outdoor lifestyles like canoeing, fishing, hiking, and boating, suitable for any destination. Additionally, they train “Therapy Companions” which are noted for their calm temperament, smaller size, scenting, and training abilities, making them ideal for service, therapy, detection, and alerting roles, with the ability to transition to field work.

Wildrose operates four full-service regional facilities nationwide, along with two satellite training grounds, all staffed with dedicated professionals specializing in “The Wildrose Way” of training.
