About the Trainer
Nicole Lucks is a certified dog trainer offering private and group training sessions for dog owners in the Duanesburg, NY area. She provides general obedience and behavior modification training for puppies under 6 months and dogs over 6 months, with sessions held at her facility on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Her training approach is rooted in positive reinforcement, informed by her completion of the STS positive-only training program and her academic background in Animal Science from SUNY Cobleskill. With over ten years of experience in the veterinary field and hands-on work training shelter dogs and her own working breed dogs, she specializes in making dogs more adoptable and improving household behavior. All dogs must be up to date on rabies, distemper, and kennel cough vaccines, and require a negative fecal test before participation.
Group classes include Canine 101, Canine 201, Military WantaBe, and Distractions & Trick training, designed to build foundational and advanced skills in a structured environment. Her training services are offered through Outlander Dog Training, a division of Outlander Survival Supply, which also provides gunsmithing, engraving, and law enforcement equipment services—though these are unrelated to dog training.
Nicollette transitioned to full-time dog training in July 2023 after consistent demand from clients seeking her expertise, making her a trusted local resource for evidence-based, compassionate dog training.
Accomplishments
Nicollette Lucks graduated from SUNY Cobleskill in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, taking courses in Canine Management, Behavior Problems of Companion Animals, and Care and Training of the Working Dog. She completed the STS positive-only training program and spent ten years working in veterinary medicine, where she developed and taught puppy training and socialization classes. She has successfully trained shelter dogs for adoption and her own working breed dogs.
