Testimonials
As a first-time Malinois owner, I quickly realized I was in over my head after bringing home Fitz at 8 weeks old. These dogs are smart, intense, and full of energy–and I knew I needed help fast. That’s when I found Kerstin from Pack with Purpose.
Kerstin is an incredible dog trainer. In just three sessions, she taught me how to understand and manage Fitz in a way that actually works. Her guidance made a world of difference–not just in Fitz’s behavior, but in my confidence as a handler.
Fitz and I are so thankful for Kerstin. I truly don’t know where we’d be without her help.
– First-time Malinois Owner
My boy Artie is affectionate, playful and more than a little goofy. He also can pull like a truck on the leash, launch himself through open doors like they were the starting gate of a race, and will come when called as long as nothing more interesting is happening. In other words, Artie is a pretty typical Pit Bull. After trying on my own, without much success, to modify some of his less desirable behaviors, I decided to enlist the help of a professional. I liked both the attitude and approach that Kerstin described when discussing her training methods. Hearing that she had worked with a number of dogs over the years, and had Pit Bulls of her own, gave me even more confidence that she would be able to work some magic with Artie. So I signed him up for a three week board and train and dropped him off with Kerstin.
After a few days, Kerstin sent me a video of Artie’s progress and it did look like magic. Artie was now walking nicely on a leash, he was respecting thresholds waiting to walk through doors, and understood SIT and DOWN commands. After two weeks, Artie was staying on PLACE and his recall was great, coming back consistently when called even with distractions.
Clearly Kerstin was making great progress, and now the challenge would be to teach me how to work with Artie’s training. She wouldn’t say which of us, Artie or me, took more time, effort and patience to train, I suspect it was me. But after a few sessions with Kerstin supervising, I was ready to take Artie home. I’ve been working with him every day, continuing the training steps that Kerstin had outlined. He is doing great, the training has made a huge change in his behavior.
An unexpected but very nice side-effect of this training, there now seems to be more of a bond between Artie and I. He has always been friendly, but now while off leash he will come back to me on his own just to “check-in”. I am no longer just someone who puts food in his bowl, we now share a common language.
Aside from giving him a home, taking him to Kerstin for training is one of the best things I have done for Artie. Being able to let your dog run and play off leash is one of the greatest gifts you can give it, and training with Kerstin is what made that possible for Artie. I highly recommend her.
– Artie’s Owner
Kerstin is amazing! I highly recommend her services. She helped me train my puppy who I almost gave away due to her being hard to control. Now my dog is doing great! Her direction was all that was needed. She definetly has a gift, a dog whisperer.
