About the Trainer

Patriot Paws of Aggieland is a student organization at Texas A&M University dedicated to training and raising specialized service dogs for disabled veterans. It operates as a satellite program of Patriot Paws Service Dogs, working to assist in the socialization, training, and overall raising of these dogs.

The organization has been an official student organization since Fall of 2013, with over 1,000 students participating since its inception. Patriot Paws of Aggieland helps to socialize and teach different cues to these service dogs in training.

The main Patriot Paws Service Dogs organization partners with prisons, volunteers across Texas, and college campuses like Texas A&M to raise and train service dogs. The cost to train a service dog is approximately $25,000 – $35,000, which is covered by donations and volunteers, not by the veterans receiving the dogs.

Accomplishments

Patriot Paws of Aggieland has been an official student organization since Fall of 2013. Over 1,000 students have participated in the organization since its founding. The officer team members have significant experience raising dogs, with some having raised 8, 13, or 14 dogs.
