My family has tried multiple dog trainers in the area in the past, and since getting my own puppy, I took a shot in the dark with someone new to get him trained well to be an amazing life companion. I’m so glad I took that shot. My puppy, Juneau, has come such a long way in such a short time! He is becoming such a well behaved little guy. Lana is so helpful, and the information she gives during training is very valuable when it comes to helping your pup retain the information and continue good behaviors. She’s positive, and very professional. She has even gone above and beyond training for us! When my pup was lethargic and not himself one evening at training after some vaccinations, she gave me some very helpful and insightful information for a first time puppy owner. She even asked me to keep her updated on his health via e-mail daily until the next session. She has a true compassion for animals, and it’s easy to see she puts her whole heart into what she does. I’ve never been to a trainer that is so caring for their students. I’d highly recommend Paw and Hand to anyone looking for training! Thanks for all your help and for all the love Paw and Hand has given to my Juneau!

Having struggled to find a trainer to work with me and my dog Zoey, the third time was the charm. I immediately felt that I have found the right trainer with Lana. We had a private lesson and she addressed all my concerns about training and set up a plan we will follow moving forward. Her experience and professionalism were obvious. Great place to bring your fur baby!!!

About the Trainer
Paw & Hand Obedience is a small obedience school in north central Pennsylvania, offering small group classes and private lessons for dogs of all levels, from pet manners and puppy training to advanced competition obedience. They focus on building a strong, trusting relationship between dog and owner using balanced training methods that include positive reinforcement, calming techniques, impulse control, motivational play, and treats. Their approach emphasizes two-way communication, helping owners learn to read their dog’s body language while teaching the dog to stay engaged and connected. They offer training for AKC Canine Good Citizen, Therapy Dog, Tricks, Rally, and all levels of AKC, UKC, and CDSP obedience competitions. They do not handle aggression cases but work with dogs ranging from fearful to high-energy and mildly reactive. The school also provides facility rentals, Zoom virtual consultations, and hosts trials. Their trainers are all approved AKC CGC evaluators, and the owner, Lana Kline, is an IACP-CDT certified trainer.
They prioritize small class sizes for individualized attention, require up-to-date vaccinations and fecal tests, and encourage communication via email. They offer weekday and evening classes to accommodate various schedules and adapt training methods to suit individual dogs. Their goal is to make living with your dog harmonious and fun, with many students reporting deeper bonds and reduced behavioral issues after training.
They also offer off-leash training, Urban Dog (CGCU), and are planning Farm Dog and Intro/Fun Agility classes. All new students must be pre-approved by Lana before registering.
They are the 2024 winners of Best Pet Training in their region.
