Pawfessional K-9 Training

Pawfessional K-9 Training offers Private Trainings and Group Classes. Private Trainings include In-Home Basic Obedience, a 5-week program for any dog or puppy that has not had previous training or needs a refresher. Students learn attention games, sit, down, stay, come, leave it, and loose leash walking, while owners learn about dog body language and how to build a relationship with their dog.

In-Home Single Sessions are one-hour, one-on-one sessions conducted at the client’s home, used for problem solving or other specific issues. Group Classes include Basic Obedience, a 6-week program open to any dog or puppy that has not been to a training class. Students learn attention games, sit, down, stay, come, leave it, and loose leash walking, and owners learn about dog body language. The first class in the group program is conducted without dogs.

Pricing Summary

In-Home Basic Obedience (5 Weeks) costs $300.00 + tax. Training discounts are available for multiple dog households and dogs from rescue organizations. In-Home Single Sessions are $75.00 + tax for one hour. Group Classes Basic Obedience (6 Weeks) cost $160.00 + Tax.

Prices do not include tax. A 10% discount is offered for the Basic Training group class if the dog is a rescue, subject to verification. Discounts are also offered to rescue groups and homeless pets.

Policies

All class dates are subject to change due to weather. Pre-registration and payment are required for each class, as space is limited and operates on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are no refunds for classes once they begin.

If a client knows they will miss a class, they should notify the trainer to be put on a make-up class list when a spot opens in another class. Rabies and Distemper vaccinations are required to participate in class unless the puppy is too young to receive rabies.

Pawfessional K-9 Training is owned and operated by Sean Shoemaker, who has spent his life around dogs, including working with Search Dogs on a FEMA USAR Task Force. Sean completed the Animal Behavior College – Dog Trainer certification program and started Pawfessional K-9 Training to help others develop a love for dogs.

The business takes a holistic approach to training, recognizing that not every dog responds the same way to each training style. They use their knowledge of dog breeds and characteristics to develop customized training programs. They emphasize that size and age do not matter, as all dogs, including seniors, can learn and adapt.

Pawfessional K-9 Training offers individual and group lessons, as well as problem-solving sessions. Their trainers have completed rigorous academic and practical training programs, including pet CPR and First Aid. Sean is an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and conducts S.T.A.R. Puppy and AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluations regularly. Sean and his dog Luna are a Therapy Dog team for Colchester Fire & EMS.

Accomplishments

Sean constantly continues his education and is a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. He recently became an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and conducts S.T.A.R. Puppy and AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluations on a regular basis. Sean and his dog Luna are a Therapy Dog team for Colchester Fire & EMS.
