Dog Training Methodology
Paws As Loving Support (PALS) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization focused on enhancing the human/animal bond through specially trained and certified assistance and support dogs. They provide Service PALS to assist children with disabilities and their families with daily needs. Facility PALS offer unconditional love and motivation for individuals with disabilities in various settings.
Courthouse PALS provide emotional support to survivors and witnesses before, during, and after court proceedings. Community PALS offer social, therapy, reading, comfort, and comfort, crisis, peer support dog teams. PALS also offers classes designed to help pet pups train to become PALS in a variety of settings, and has expanded its mission to include mental health and wellness services.

About the Trainer
Paws As Loving Support (PALS) Assistance Dogs is a non-profit organization based in Sonoma County, CA, dedicated to enhancing the human/animal bond through specially trained and certified assistance and support dogs. Founded in 2009 by Nancy Pierson, PALS breeds, trains, and places service dogs with children with disabilities, as well as facility dogs with professionals working with people with disabilities or facing unique challenges.
PALS also offers training and certifications for social, therapy, reading, and comfort dog teams for people and their pet dogs. They have expanded their mission to include providing mental health and wellness services throughout the community. Their offerings include Service PALS, Facility PALS, Courthouse PALS, and Community PALS, along with classes for pet pups to become PALS in various settings.
Accomplishments
Paws As Loving Support (PALS) was established in 2009 by founder Nancy Pierson. The organization is a non-profit 501(c)(3).
In 2015, PALS placed its first courthouse dog in the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office, followed by three other placements in Santa Cruz and Sonoma County. In 2021, they launched their comfort, crisis, and peer support dog teams. Nancy Pierson, the founder, has been training dogs since 1992, accumulating over three decades of experience with service dog organizations. She previously served as a puppy raiser instructor for Canine Companions and as a social therapy dog instructor and K-9 support manager at Bergin University of Canine Studies. Nancy is also an American Kennel Club evaluator.
