Pawsitive Dog Training offers three main customizable programs, all of which include free training treats, a walking harness/halter, and written homework instructions. An accelerated package add-on is available for private in-home programs, where the trainer works one-on-one with the dog in advance to jumpstart commands. Board and Train programs are also offered for owners who prefer professional training for their dog.

The “Well-Mannered Dog Program” focuses on basic commands and behaviors, including Watch me, sit, come, stay, drop it, loose leash walking, potty training, chewing/mouthing, jumping, and barking. It consists of 5 private lessons and includes unlimited access to the trainer via text, phone, or email for one year for follow-up questions on learned commands/behaviors.

The “Amazing Dog Program” builds on the Well-Mannered program, adding commands like take it, leave it, down, and a trick, along with behaviors such as crating and greeting/say hello. This program includes 7 private lessons and offers unlimited access to the trainer for the life of the dog for follow-up questions on learned commands/behaviors. It also includes extra lessons to practice around other dogs for distraction training and socialization.

The “Dream Dog Program” is the most comprehensive, designed to create a well-behaved companion in all circumstances, even around heavy distractions. It includes all commands from the Amazing program plus heel, go to bed, wait, and stand, and adds “off” and “check it out” behaviors. This program features 9 private lessons and provides unlimited access to the trainer for the life of the dog for any issue that may arise. It also serves as preparation for Canine Good Citizen and therapy dog status.

Testimonials

“When I got my puppy, I was so overwhelmed that I decided to get a dog trainer. After speaking to many trainers, I found Lori Hill. She stood out from the rest. Lori is a calm, intelligent, and honest person. We started working together, and Lori is such a natural with dogs and non-judgmental with us owners! She explained the commands and dog behaviors in an easy-to-understand manner, and my puppy Cooper loves her! Cooper went from a wild, impulsive dog to a calmer pet who pays attention to learning. It has been a pleasure! She has also helped me with stopping bad behavior, potty training, jumping, and mouthing! These are skills I can use for the lifetime of my dog. I highly recommend Lori Hill as a premier dog trainer.”

“Lori is an intuitive and knowledgeable trainer. Her positive training methods made all the difference when she worked with our jack russel rescue mix for aggression issues. She showed me how to help him feel secure as well gave me tools for our family to regain structure. I highly recommend her and her heart centered approach to dog training.”

“Before we picked up our Husky puppy, Oxford, I asked his breeder if she recommended any dog trainers in my area. She suggested I reach out to Lori. After Ox came home I reached out to ask if we could start training as soon as possible. I also asked if we could upgrade his program from the Well Mannered to the Dream Dog program. It was the best decision and investment we have made for Ox and ourselves. Ox started training with Lori at 8 weeks and finished his training at around 7 months. He is 9 months now and is hands down a dream dog. Everyone we meet finds Ox’s great behavior impressive. It was amazing to have a 4 month puppy walking next to me on a leash. Ox knows over 20 commands and is a such quick learner. This has allowed us to try and enjoy new activities with him. He runs next to us on and off the bike without pulling. When we go kayaking he lies down quietly and enjoys the scenery. We can take him anywhere knowing he will behave. We’re taking a few more classes to prepare him for the Canine Good Citizen Test so he can become a therapy dog. I recommend Lori to anyone in the Boca Raton, FL. area with a dog looking to build good behaviors or curb bad ones. She’s very knowledgeable about dog training and made the entire process fun for us and Ox. Her knowledge is truly impressive! Lori is also patient and supportive. I had so many questions each week, some not related to training, and she gave us so much guidance. Lori is one of the few people we would trust with Ox. She cares for him like he’s her own. Ox adores her and can’t help but let out some loud excited howls when he sees her!”

About the Trainer

Pawsitive Dog Training (PDT) is owned by Lori Hill, a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, who has been training dogs since 2006. Lori transitioned from a career in accounting to dog training, inspired by her own spinal-injury miniature dachshunds who became certified therapy dogs. She is passionate about the human-animal bond and aims to restore calm and order to homes by helping owners achieve a happy, healthy relationship with their dogs.

PDT specializes in gentle, positive reinforcement behavioral modification, therapy dog training, and obedience training. Lori works with families to customize training to their specific needs, offering in-home sessions at the client’s convenience. She has experience with stubborn breeds and is comfortable treating a wide range of behavioral issues, including separation anxiety, marking, nuisance barking, chewing/mouthing, house training, play-biting, jumping, leash pulling, and aggression.

Beyond training, PDT offers additional services such as pet sitting, dog walking, and pet transportation. Pet sitting includes comprehensive care for dogs, cats, fish, and exotic pets, with comfort for shy, sick, or elderly animals, and administration of medicines. Dog walking services reinforce good training habits during 15-30 minute visits. Pet transportation provides a safe, air-conditioned taxi service for pets to appointments. PDT wholeheartedly supports adoption, with a portion of proceeds going to a local rescue group. Lori’s mission is to treat clients’ pets like her own.
