Perfect Puppy Academy

Perfect Puppy Academy offers group classes and in-home private training. Group classes are 5-week, one-hour sessions held evenings or weekends, typically with 4-12 dogs. The entire family is encouraged to participate, with children aged five and older. Classes cover a range of skills from basic obedience and socialization to advanced manners and specific problem behaviors.

Puppy classes (Puppy 1, 2, 3) are designed for puppies aged 10 weeks to under one year, focusing on socialization, bite inhibition, and foundational behaviors like sit, stay, and leash walking. Adolescent/Adult classes (Adolescent/Adult 1, 2) are for dogs over 18 weeks, covering similar skills with an emphasis on older dog habits. Specialized group classes include Loose Leash Walking & Reliable Recall, Canine Good Citizen preparation, and Community Canine for advanced training in distracting environments.

Private in-home training packages are available, including a 10-session program that covers skills from Level 1 and 2 group classes. The first private lesson is 90 minutes, followed by nine 60-minute sessions. Additional 5-session private packages are offered for specific skills like loose leash walking or recall.

Pricing Summary

Group classes are typically 5-week sessions, costing $210-$250, and include a training manual. Private lessons are available in packages: 3 lessons for $375 (one dog) or $450 (two dogs), or a 10-session package for $1,500. Additional 5-session private packages for specific skills like Loose Leash Walking, Recall, or a Refresher are $625 each.

Policies

Participants are required to comply with current CDC Guidelines for Covid-19 safety, including wearing masks, maintaining a minimum of 6 feet social distancing, and not attending classes if experiencing Covid-19 symptoms.

The programs are veterinarian-developed and led by a professionally certified and experienced instructor, Anne Swan. With over 18 years of operation, the academy boasts over 6,000 satisfied graduates. They serve the Goleta and Santa Barbara areas, encouraging entire families to participate in their classes.

Accomplishments

Perfect Puppy Academy has over 18 years of experience in dog training, with more than 6,000 satisfied graduates. The academy’s programs are veterinarian-developed. The owner and primary instructor, Anne Swan, is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) since 2008, and has been a professional dog trainer since 1995, accumulating over 20 years of experience.

Anne holds a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and is a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT). She is also a national Agility Competitor and Instructor, with all five of her dogs achieving National Finalist status in top competitions. Her dogs, Kylie, Maizey, and Avid, have won multiple national agility championships and earned numerous titles. In 2023, Perfect Puppy Academy was recognized as “Best Dog Trainer” in the Santa Barbara Independent Best of Santa Barbara® Reader’s Poll.
