About the Trainer
Pet Peeves Training, LLC is a dog training and behavior rehabilitation business based in Canoga Park, serving the San Fernando Valley and surrounding areas. Founded by Laura Rice, a certified Animal Behavior Specialist and graduate of the prestigious Exotic Animal Training & Management Program at Moorpark College, the business specializes in resolving complex behavioral issues such as aggression, reactivity, leash pulling, separation anxiety, barking, jumping, and resource guarding. Laura combines a deep understanding of dog psychology with a balanced approach that integrates positive reinforcement and fair, firm guidance to address the emotional root causes of behavior problems. All training includes lifetime support via text, phone, or email, and clients are encouraged to submit videos for ongoing guidance. The business offers in-home private lessons, virtual training, and a specialized low-level e-collar program designed to achieve off-leash reliability. Laura’s unique educational background and hands-on experience with exotic animals inform her ability to work with dogs that other trainers have failed to help.
The business emphasizes understanding how dogs experience the world emotionally, rather than applying human psychology to canine behavior. Laura’s methods focus on building clear communication, leadership, and trust between dog and owner. She is fully licensed and insured, and a professional member of the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP). Pet Peeves Training has over 60 five-star reviews on Yelp and was recognized as one of the highest-rated businesses in the San Fernando Valley in 2024.
