About the Trainer

Pet Professors is a positive reinforcement dog training business founded in 2010 by Tabetha Williams, a KPA Certified Training Partner. They specialize in helping dog owners build strong, lasting partnerships with their pets through science-based, reward-based methods. Services include private in-home or community tutoring, boarding school in a home environment for dogs who get along with others, and small group labs for families training together. They emphasize teaching owners the “why” behind training techniques, including precise use of the clicker to mark desired behaviors and reinforce them with treats. Their approach reduces stress and encourages active, joyful learning for both dogs and humans. They train puppies, adolescents, adults, and seniors, with specialties in puppy socialization, reactivity, aggression, sports, agility, and behavior modification.

Their team includes trained dogs like Gary, a retired service dog turned agility champion, Mayo, a senior therapy and agility dog, and Piper, a Toy Fox Terrier with vision loss who excels in nosework—demonstrating their commitment to training dogs of all abilities. They also offer resources and FAQs to help pet parents understand training principles, and their methods are grounded in applied behavior analysis and professional certification.

Accomplishments

Tabetha Williams, owner and lead trainer, holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Business Administration from Drake University, summa cum laude, with research in animal behavior and applied behavior analysis. She completed the Karen Pryor Academy (KPA) Professional Dog Trainer program in 2017, becoming one of only 1,800 KPA Certified Training Partners worldwide. She also interned at Blank Park Zoo, training seals, otters, and other animals, and has experience working with children with autism using applied behavior analysis. Her dogs have earned multiple titles in agility, rally, tracking, and therapy work.
