Dog Training Methodology
Equipment:
- ✓ Obstacle Courses
- ✓ leash
- ✓ crate
Pinnacle Dog Sports offers a structured progression of agility classes. “Harmony In the Household” is an introductory class for any age dog, focusing on basic obedience skills like sits, downs, stays, recalls, loose leash walking, attention, and leave it, along with comfort in crates and with people/other dogs. It also introduces body awareness for agility.
Following this, there are three “Foundations” levels (I, II, III) that build teamwork and basic flatwork agility skills, introduce and develop proficiency on agility equipment such as wobble boards, planks, ladders, 2×2 weaves, teeters, A-frames, and dog walks. These levels have age requirements ranging from 6 to 24 months and require completion of previous levels or instructor approval.
Advanced classes include “Novice Agility,” “Open / Excellent Agility,” and “Masters Agility,” designed for dogs 24 months and older. These classes focus on running agility courses, improving speed, obstacle discrimination, and perfecting handling maneuvers for competition. Prerequisites include experience with contacts, jumping, weave poles, and tunnels, or instructor approval.
Pricing & Policies
Pricing Summary
Classes are prepaid on a monthly basis. A “drop-in” rate of $21 per class is available if a class has enough committed students to proceed. There is a $20 charge for owners not cleaning up after their dogs or for dogs relieving themselves on the turf due to owner negligence. Water and pop are available for 50 cents each.
Policies
Classes require a minimum number of committed students to proceed; otherwise, they will not be held. If a class has enough committed students, “drop-in” attendance is permitted at a higher rate, but students must confirm class availability and receive approval in advance.
Classes are prepaid on a monthly basis, and credit is not given for missed classes, except for cancellations due to inclement or extreme weather. Students who know they will miss a class may apply to attend an alternate class of the same level, subject to space availability and prior approval.
All dogs must be kept on leash inside and outside the building unless running a course. Barking, unruly, or aggressive dogs are not permitted in class. Bitches in season may not attend classes due to the turf and padding.
