Dog Training Methodology
Methods:
- ✓ Balanced Training
Precision K9 Work offers various training programs tailored to different needs. Private training lessons are one hour long and can be conducted at their facility or, in some situations, in the client’s home. Their Off-Leash Dog Training program focuses on consistent recall and listening, with lessons held at home or in parks, including homework assignments. The Board & Train program, ranging from 1 to 4 weeks, is designed for busy owners and includes private lessons upon completion to ensure a smooth transition back home.
The Puppy Training Program, for puppies aged 8 weeks to 5 months, introduces basic obedience, potty training, crate training, and addresses common puppy behaviors like chewing, jumping, and digging. These private classes can be held at home or the facility and include an online/mobile-friendly course. Behavior Modification programs are available for dogs with issues such as aggression, shyness, or timidity, offering a specialized approach to change unwanted behaviors. Group Dog Classes are held at their facility and local parks, providing opportunities for socialization and challenging obedience, including monthly pack walks.
For advanced training, they offer Protection Dog Training, which includes private lessons for sport (like IGP/IPO, PSA, Mondioring) or personal protection, and a board & train option. They also sell fully trained personal protection dogs. The ATX Working Dog Club focuses on building drive, focus, and bite development for dog sports and maintaining training for Police K9s and personal protection dogs. Additionally, Precision K9 Work provides Single-Purpose Detection K9s for law enforcement, specializing in firearms, narcotics, and explosives detection, which come with a 40-hour Handlers Course.

Testimonials
“Our small dog was aggressive with other dogs and did not follow commands. Jake spent 3 weeks with our Boston Terrier and worked on his confidence, anxiety issues, and commands. We were shocked by the change. Not only was our dog calm around other dogs but is generally happier since he knows his role in the pack. He loves taking orders!”
– Samantha S (Yelp)
“Jake has done an incredible job training and communicating with our two dogs. They both used to pull me around on the leash, and now they walk calmly and respond to our commands. Thanks Jake!”
– Jesse Wolf (Facebook)
“Jake has transformed our dog, Hondo from skittish and defensive to confident and secure. We are still amazed at how Jake was able to bring out the best in Hondo through praise and the proper training techniques. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
– Pamela Jackson (Facebook)

How to Get Started!
To begin training with Precision K9 Work, clients are encouraged to set up a free evaluation. This initial evaluation allows the trainer to meet the dog, assess its temperament and personality, and discuss the owner’s goals and expectations. Based on this assessment, the trainers provide recommendations for the most suitable training course of action. While an evaluation is not always mandatory, it is recommended for most dogs. For protection training specifically, a protection evaluation is required and costs $50.
