Dog Training Methodology
Methods:
- ✓ Balanced Training
Rad Dogs offers personalized training plans that begin with in-home behavioral assessments. During these assessments, the trainer observes the dog’s personality and reactivity in a comfortable environment, using treats and toys.
Based on the gathered information, a unique training plan is developed, focusing on desensitization and behavior modification through counter-conditioning and positive reinforcement. Training sessions are designed to be short and enjoyable for the dog.
About the Trainer
Rad Dogs LLC, established in March 2023, is a dog training business founded by an individual with extensive experience gained from working at Arizona’s oldest and largest animal rescue. The founder’s journey began in animal care, progressing to a behavior specialist role where they focused on dogs with severe issues, including those returned for bites. They operate with the belief that no dog is inherently “bad” and are confident in their ability to help with even the most challenging behaviors.
Rad Dogs offers personalized training plans, behavioral assessments, and desensitization & behavior modification, utilizing counter-conditioning and positive reinforcement. Beyond training, they provide full-service in-home dog sitting and drop-in visits for walks and activities. Their long-term vision is to eliminate dog homelessness, while their short-term goal is to enhance the lives of dogs globally.
Accomplishments
The founder gained significant experience working at Arizona’s oldest and largest animal rescue, where they advanced from an Animal Care Tech to a behavior specialist. In this role, they worked extensively with dogs exhibiting severe problem behaviors, including those returned for bites.
In February 2022, the founder completed a mentorship for Dog’s Playing For Life, which significantly enhanced their ability to interpret and respond to dog behaviors.
How to Get Started!
The initial step for clients is a behavioral assessment conducted by Rad Dogs in the client’s home. During this visit, the trainer interacts with the dog, providing treats and toys, to assess their reactivity and overall behaviors.
Following the assessment, the owner receives a concise breakdown of the findings, which then informs the creation of a unique and personalized training plan for their dog.
