Great group of volunteer instructors. Jaxon enjoys every class since first class at 16 wks (now 11 months) and learning more and more each day.

The trainers with Rand Park Dog Training Club are amazing! My dog was hyper and had impulse control problems before I started training with them. Now I have learned how to channel that energy in positive ways, and both my dog and I are happier. This is a non-profit organization, so these volunteers conduct obedience training for the love of it, it’s not an additional income stream like big box pet stores. And you can’t beat the value! More classes per session than most other dog obedience training. A great experience all around!

About the Trainer

Rand Park Dog Training Club, Inc. (RPDTC) is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organization that offers group dog obedience, rally, tracking, nosework, and puppy kindergarten training classes. Classes are held at the Des Plaines Park District Leisure Center and are open to the public during Fall, Winter, and Spring; summer training is limited to current members and trainees. The club emphasizes positive, structured training that builds strong owner-dog bonds, improves behavior, and prepares dogs for the AKC Canine Good Citizenship (CGC) program. With no board-and-train options, RPDTC focuses on hands-on, owner-participatory training led by experienced volunteer instructors. Members enjoy additional social activities, fun matches (practice trials), lectures, and demonstrations. The club is known for its affordable pricing, high class value, and community-driven approach, making it a trusted choice for families in the Des Plaines area.

RPDTC offers beginner and puppy classes for $150 for a 7-week session, with registration handled directly through the club. All instructors are volunteers dedicated to dog training out of passion, not profit. The club supports the AKC’s Canine Good Citizenship program and offers CGC evaluators, with many owners receiving homeowners insurance discounts after their dogs earn the CGC title. Training is designed to improve recall, leash manners, socialization, and impulse control, helping dogs behave safely in public and at home.

Accomplishments

Rand Park Dog Training Club is an AKC-affiliated organization with certified CGC evaluators. The club has successfully hosted numerous CGC and Tricks title classes and maintains an active volunteer-led training program since its founding.
