Reidsan Dog Training Center

Reidsan offers several training programs. The Boarding School program requires a 2-week minimum stay for dogs 6 months or older, providing professional training, exercise, and personal attention. This program covers Basic or Advance Obedience, behavior problem solving, AKC signals, and one-on-one sessions.

Small group classes are held in a spacious pecan grove with a personal touch, limited to 5 dogs per group. The Puppy class is for puppies 11 weeks to 6 months old, meeting once a week for 5 weeks, teaching commands like Come, sit, stay, down, heel, and hand signals, focusing on training both the puppy and owner. The Basic class is for dogs 6 months or older, meeting twice a week for 5 weeks, covering on-leash training including Come, sit, down, stand, stay with distractions, heel, hand signals, and problem solving. The Advance class requires completion of Basic Obedience, meeting twice a week for 5 weeks, focusing on off-leash control and confidence. Additionally, an Agility Course is available for fun, exercise, and teamwork, involving obstacles like tunnels, A-frames, and jumps.

Reidsan Dog Training Center, also known as Reidsan Kennel in the Grove, is described as “The Complete Dog Center!” They have a full staff of trainers, all trained by ReidSan, who are dedicated to uncovering your dog’s potential. Their central philosophy is “Developing a stronger relationship between you and your dog.”

They offer innovative training modules including Puppy training classes, obedience training classes, and boarding. Their services have expanded over the years to include small group classes, boarding with training, grooming (coming soon), handling show dogs, and breeding Bouviers. They also aid in Service Dog training and are involved with their local El Paso community.

The kennel is situated in a 6.5-acre pecan grove, providing a quiet and serene environment. It features large indoor/outdoor runs for dogs, with separate exercise yards for play while runs are cleaned, and private indoor sleeping areas. They feed Fromm Dog Food, which is all natural and has no preservatives, to boarding dogs, and it is also available for sale. They also provide a cattery for cats, designed with climbing tree limbs and window boxes. Pets receive extra personal attention at no additional charge.

Accomplishments

ReidSan Kennel in the Grove & Dog Training Center has been training dogs in the El Paso area since 1983 and has received many awards. They have been featured on local and national TV, in magazines, on websites, and in billboard campaigns. Their dogs have participated in notable campaigns, including “Miss El Paso” for the “El Paso Up!” tourism campaign, the “Meaner Breed” campaign for UTEP football, and “Duke the Deal sniffing Dog” with Casa Ford. One of their Bouviers, “Dylen,” served as the Diablo baseball team mascot. Several of their dogs have served as therapy dogs, visiting medical institutions and schools.

Sandra Reid is one of the founders of “Paws for Love,” a nonprofit composed of therapy animal teams, and under her guidance, Reidsan also provides service dogs. She is a graduate of Howard University. Wilbert Reid began his formal tutelage in 1970, training with renowned experts such as Walter Hoffman of Germany (Schutzhund), Henk Harmers and Mrs. Cor Valentijn of the Netherlands (Bouvier), and Poco Rivera (Dept. of Defense – Bomb detection for the Olympic Korea 1986). He has duel titled many dogs in conformation and obedience, achieving the first Bouvier Best in Show High in Trial and High Aggregate score in Canada. He has developed personal protection training and has traveled to Europe yearly since 1984 to search for quality Bouviers, Rottweilers, German Shepherds, and Malinois, establishing strong ties with breeders. Their trainers are certified to test dogs for the AKC CGC (Canine Good Citizen), and they have a certified pet therapy evaluator for Pet Partners Therapy on staff. They boast clients worldwide, including known entertainers and NBA and NFL players.
