Dog Training Methodology
Methods:
- ✓ Balanced Training
Equipment:
- ✓ Flat Collars
The training program is structured into four levels. Level 1 guides new clients through basics to form a solid training foundation, evaluates the dog’s behavior and obedience, and allows for discussion of goals and behavioral issues. Level 2 focuses on working with flat collars with the goal of achieving Canine Good Citizen Certification (CGC), addressing problem areas and solidifying basic obedience in preparation for off-leash work. Level 3 is an Intermediate Class that begins off-leash training, continuing to reinforce basics and adding agility. Level 4 is an Advanced Off-Leash Class where each dog’s confidence and skills are continuously built, reinforced, and challenged.

“”LEARN FROM THE BEST!” I started my journey with GSD’s over 30 years ago, and thought I knew about them. It wasn’t until I became affiliated with Rettungs-Haus. I realized how little I did know. The love and passion for the breed is unrivaled. I had read about Rettungs-Haus online and felt this was something I wanted to be part of. I was not disappointed! At this point I knew I wanted one of Rettungs-Haus GSD’s.”

“Something I’ve taken from my experience with Rettungs-Haus training is that every owner and their dog have their own set of “issues”. They could have aggression, fear, separation anxiety, intense energy, or maybe even no issues at all. Rettungs-Haus Shepherds takes you, your dog, and your issues just as you are and helps to solve those important to you. They teach you how to be confident, clear, and consistent with your training.”

About the Trainer
Rettungs-Haus Shepherds, Inc. is a not-for-profit, volunteer-based German Shepherd Breed Specific Rescue located in Kenosha, WI. They rescue, rehabilitate, and find placement for German Shepherds, evaluating each dog for temperament, drive, adaptability, and medical needs. Many of their dogs have gone on to serve as Service Dogs, Therapy Dogs, Search & Rescue K9s, Detection K9s, and School Resource K9s.
The organization emphasizes rehabilitation through training and a support network for owners considering surrendering their dogs, stating “Confidence is Built, not Broke.” They aim to reduce the shelter population through canine education, training, and behavior modification, addressing issues like aggression, fear, and separation anxiety.
They also run an outreach program called “Operation K9 Truth for Youth,” which provides volunteer and leadership opportunities for youth, allowing them to accrue community service hours while working with canines and trained volunteers. This program educates young people about canine behavior, proper animal treatment, shelter life, and rescue efforts, and aims to teach fact from fiction regarding the bully breed nation.
Rettungs-Haus Shepherds, Inc. offers training and rehabilitation services, with a structured program designed to build confidence and address various behavioral issues. They are dedicated to the German Shepherd breed and are recognized for their care, compassion, strong leadership, and experience in training and rehabilitation.
