Testimonials
“My Friend who received training for their police dog there refereed us to them. We were looking to buy a family protection dog. We bought a German Shepherd that was imported from Europe, the dog and training was unreal. He is beyond a family member and is the best dog we have ever owned. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for top quality training and dogs.”

About the Trainer
Rhode Island K-9 Academy, Inc. is a family-run business with over 25 years of experience training police, protection, and detection dogs. They specialize in high-level working dog programs using German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherds, and retriever-type breeds. Their training covers narcotics and explosives detection, tactical police operations, and personal/family protection dogs. All dogs undergo a rigorous selection process and are trained to meet national standards. The director of training, Roger Reardon, is a veteran law enforcement officer with over 30 years as a K-9 handler, nationally certified as a master trainer, and an advisor to a national police dog organization. He has trained hundreds of dogs for law enforcement agencies and certifies dogs nationally. The academy does not offer training for civilian pet owners; services are exclusively for law enforcement, military, and approved protection dog clients.
They sell fully trained dogs for police, protection, and guard roles, with options including dual-purpose K-9s and family protection dogs. Dogs are available for approved homes only, and many are sold before being listed on their website. They do not provide training services for general pet owners or offer group classes, in-home training, or behavior modification for household pets.
