Rockin Robin Kennel & Outfitters offers several dog training programs: Pointing Dog Training, Flushing Dog Training, Puppy Training, Obedience Training, One-On-One Training, and Tune-Up Training. All programs require up-to-date immunization records, including Rabies, Distemper, Parvo, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Bordetella (Kennel Cough), and Influenza.
The Pointing Dog Training program is for dogs 6 to 9 months of age and lasts approximately 3 months. It teaches commands such as sit, kennel, here, whoa, and heel, along with collar conditioning, holding point, steady-to-flush, backing/honoring another dog’s point, and retrieving to hand. The program emphasizes hunting in a suitable range and provides extensive experience on live birds in simulated hunting situations.
The Flushing Dog Training program, also for dogs 6 to 9 months of age and approximately 3 months in duration, focuses on collar conditioning for sit, heel, here, and kennel commands. Dogs learn to hunt and quarter in range, sit on gunfire, sit to flush, and sit on a whistle, while also being conditioned to retrieve and deliver to hand. This program incorporates plenty of live birds in diverse hunting environments like woods and fields.
The Puppy Training program is designed for dogs 3 months of age and is 1 month in length. It introduces puppies to birds, guns, and heeling on a leash to develop prey drive and prevent gun-shyness. Obedience Training is a 1-month program that teaches off-leash commands including sit, heel, here, kennel, and addresses jumping.
One-On-One Dog Training is available for owners who wish to be directly involved in their dog’s training or to tune up their hunting companion. This program is offered on an hourly basis. Tune-Up Dog Training is for previously trained dogs needing a refresher before hunting season and can be done on a weekly or monthly basis. The trainers emphasize that successful training requires consistent exposure to live birds and encourage owners to work with their dog at the program’s completion to ensure clarity on learned commands and reinforce continued training.
