Programs include 1:1 training (in-home, facility, or virtual), group classes (Ruff Starters, Puppy Prep, Tricks, Intermediate Obedience), drop-off training (M-F with daily reports and videos), board and train (immersive program), and overnight boarding with maintenance training. Group classes are seven-week foundational courses or shorter themed sessions. Drop-off and board and train include targeted command training, socialization, and real-world generalization. All programs begin with a consultation to tailor the plan to the dog and owner’s needs.
Pricing & Policies
Pricing Summary
Initial consultation is $150. Follow-up 1:1 sessions start at $100. Drop-off training is $80 for a full day, $50 for a half day. Group classes and board and train programs have package pricing; discounts available for packages. Overnight boarding and other services priced separately.

About the Trainer
Tessa Sternbach is the owner and head trainer of Ruff Life Dog Training Services, providing professional dog training in Western North Carolina since 2014. She offers personalized 1:1 training at home, in the community, or virtually, as well as group classes, board and train programs, drop-off training, and overnight boarding. Tessa specializes in positive reinforcement techniques, focusing on replacing problem behaviors with acceptable alternatives to create harmony between dogs and their owners. She also runs a unique New Leash On Life program in partnership with Charlie’s Angels Animal Rescue and the Western Correctional Center for Women, rehabilitating shelter dogs for adoption. Additional services include AKC Canine Good Citizen certification, puppy prep, leash walking, separation anxiety, reactivity, and socialization outings called Wandering Wags. Her facility is indoor and operational year-round, rain or shine.
