Testimonials

After working with multiple trainers along the coast — including one particularly negative experience with an off-leash canine training program — we were hesitant but hopeful when we found Russell K9 Dog Training. I wanted to wait a few months after completing the program to share our honest experience, and I can confidently say that choosing Russell K9 was one of the best decisions we made for our dog, Althea.

Althea struggled with reactivity and anxiety — barking at the vacuum cleaner, people, on car rides, and even passersby in the yard. We had big dreams for her to become a therapy dog in our counseling office, but previous training attempts simply hadn’t worked.

We enrolled her in the two-week in-home and public training program with Cody at Russell K9, who utilizes the E-collar as part of his approach. From day one, Cody’s professionalism and communication stood out. He sent daily updates, photos, and videos so we could see Althea’s progress and stay connected. He answered every one of my (many!) questions with patience and kindness.

We were also impressed by how transparent Cody was — he gave us a full tour of his facility, showing where the dogs are kenneled, and we loved that Althea was included in normal family life during her stay.

At the end of the program, we participated in our own hands-on training session as “dog parents.” Cody spent generous time ensuring we understood how to maintain Althea’s new skills at home. He even tested her for the Canine Good Citizen Award, and she passed!

Since coming home, Althea’s transformation has been incredible. Her barking is minimal, she rides calmly in the car, and we can finally vacuum in peace! Most importantly, she has stepped into her role as a therapy dog in our counseling office, bringing comfort and joy to our clients — something that truly would not have been possible without Cody’s expertise, compassion, and guidance.

We were so confident in the exceptional results and experience with Russell K9 that our second dog, Mabel Grace, has just completed her own two-week in-home and public training program with Cody as well. We can’t wait to see the same amazing progress with her!
— The Clinic, Therapy & Consulting

We have two very large, VERY unruly Bernedoodles (3 years old and 7 months old). They aren’t aggressive, but way too smart for their (and our) own good. They would bark at and jump on guests, and nothing we did would get them to stop or listen. Then we came across Russell K9…what a godsend! We did the two week public training, and we got back two VERY well behaved and attentive dogs! Leash manners are exponentially better, and they are much easier to control when we have guests! We couldn’t be happier with the results! Any problems that we have had are completely due to us being lazy, but they snap back to the training very quickly! You just have to be sure to keep up with the training, especially with hard-headed and intelligent dogs…but trust me, you’ll be glad you did!

We started looking for a trainer for our black lab, Cosmo, after he started displaying very reactive behaviors. We found Russel K9 through Facebook and did extensive research on them before deciding to bring Cosmo to them for a 2 week board and train. Jockson was his trainer and we could not be happier with the results. Jockson was very honest and upfront that he would not be able to take the reactivity out of Cosmo, but he would be able to make it manageable and keep it under control. And he did just that! Cosmo is able to go on walks and not be reactive to other dogs, and the commands he was taught in training are so helpful in the home. It was worth every penny, and we HIGHLY recommend Russel K9 and Jockson to anyone that is looking for a trainer.

Russell K9 did the most amazing job training our puppy. I cannot believe how much her behavior has improved. They work miracles!! Our puppy is so much calmer and happier after spending 2 weeks in their boarding program. They are very professional and Jocksan was so patient and spent so much time teaching us and answering all our questions. I highly recommend Russell K9 if you’re in need of dog training!!

Jocksan did such a great job working with my Atlas! He was loving and caring working with Atlas’ sensitive nature and often frustrating non -food driven quirks.
Loved my experience and all the daily updates. Highly recommend and completely worth every penny.
Jocksan took the time to listen to my specific needs when working with my puppy pony !
