Savvy Dog offers personalized training solutions through Day Training, Private Consults, and Classes & Events. Day Training has two levels: “Program Day” ($35/day) which includes 45-60 minutes of individual training, a written “Report Card,” and accrued private consult time, focusing on specific behaviors like obedience, impulse control, and manners. The “Train-Maintain Day” ($25/day) provides ongoing support with group activities and reinforcement.

A typical day at Savvy Dog Academy includes structured curriculum with group games, individual games (e.g., Nosework, puzzle toys), manners training (e.g., “Wait,” “Quiet,” no jumping), and a 60-90 minute naptime. Attendance is limited to 10 dogs for a calm, controlled environment.

Private Consults offer one-on-one instruction in your home or at their facility, covering communication, impulse control, socialization, basic obedience, and leash manners. Specialized options include “Intern” Days for hands-on learning, “Walking Consults” for leash manners/reactivity, and “Online Consults” for existing clients. Semi-Private Consults are available for small groups. Additionally, small group classes, training “field trips,” and one-day workshops are offered periodically, with puppy classes and weekly workshops coming soon.

About the Trainer

Savvy Dog Training offers personalized training solutions and specialized daycare options designed to teach skills, accelerate learning, and support behavioral goals for dogs and their owners. Their passion is to help families move beyond mere obedience training to build a brilliant bond with their dogs.

The business is owned and operated by Debbie Disch, who launched Savvy Dog in 2012 after a 20+ year career in corporate finance and accounting. Her training philosophy focuses on inspiring people to build strong relationships, develop a common language, and set clear expectations with their dogs.

Savvy Dog adheres to the LIMA principle (least intrusive, minimally aversive) and primarily uses rewards-based training techniques, including marker training, treats, play, and praise. They aim to teach dogs to think for themselves, love to learn, and view their people as the most reinforcing part of their world, while also emphasizing that “Positive does not mean permissive.” The business is fully licensed and insured.
