Testimonials

“I would highly recommend Scarlet K9 to get your puppy on the right track. We rescued a large breed puppy who was a playful biter and we have the scars to prove it! Evan worked with us to eliminate the biting and we later sent Dusty for a 2 week board and train. He came back a new puppy, and we have a foundation to work on additional training. Evan even came over after we had Dusty home for a bit to make sure he hadn’t gone back to his old ways, which he hasn’t.”
– Dusty & The Venables

“I had my 1 year 6 month old dog, Cleo, stay with Evan for a 2 week board and train. She really needed to work on her obedience and excitement when distractions were around and Evan was able to help tremendously. I had a few sessions with other trainers but their recommendations weren’t helpful and I was scared I wouldn’t find a good trainer. I was also worried she’d change and not be the excited loving dog she is but since she’s been back its clear to see she’s the same dog just with better listening skills and ability to calm herself and seem less stressed and anxious in highly distracting situations for her. It was honestly the best thing I could’ve done for my dog and I 110% recommend Evan to anyone seeking training help with their own dog.”
– Cleo & Jessie

“I knew my search was over seconds after meeting him to help with my two young rottweilers. He is knowledgeable, patient, punctual, and took his time with different training methods that worked for my family’s lifestyle. Bonus, I gained a wonderful friend out of the deal and my dogs absolutely love and respect him!”
– Gina, Kevin, Gus, & Rose

About the Trainer

Evan Smith is the owner and head trainer of Scarlet K9 Dog Training. He is known for teaching dog training methods to both pet owners and other dog trainers, and for his proficiency in hands-on training with various dog types. Scarlet K9’s training philosophy is centered around understanding the dog’s behavior by asking detailed questions about problem behaviors, when and where they occur, and the dog’s history (e.g., rescue status, history with other dogs/people). This approach helps explain why a dog behaves a certain way, allowing for a customized training plan based on the dog’s problems and the owner’s lifestyle.

Scarlet K9 specializes in dog behavior beyond just obedience, focusing on foundational changes in how owners live with their dogs to positively change the dog’s mindset. They offer various training programs including virtual lessons, board and train, day and train, and in-home programs for both adult dogs and puppies. They also provide dog boarding services.

For their Board & Train and Day & Train programs, Scarlet K9 takes only a few dogs at a time to ensure undivided attention and a family-like living environment. They offer ongoing support from the trainer after program completion for certain programs.
