About the Trainer
Wenatchee Dog Training, led by Bette, is a dog training service specializing in unraveling dog behavior puzzles and guiding owners towards their training goals. Bette has over 15 years of experience working with a wide variety of dogs in various home and public environments, known for her creative behavioral problem solving. She tailors solutions perfect for the dog, owner, and specific needs.
She helps both first-time dog owners with basics and seasoned pet parents whose previous training isn’t working. Bette focuses on preventative training but also addresses existing bad habits. She takes on a limited number of students at once, choosing those with whom she feels the strongest connection, believing students learn best from teachers they enjoy.
Bette’s life’s work is teaching people to influence behavior primarily using positive, force-free methods, including clicker training (or verbal markers) and the NILIF (Nothing In Life Is Free) method. She uses food, toys, access to play, and interaction as rewards. Her teaching approach is influenced by her experience teaching English through immersion in Japan.
Accomplishments
Bette has over 15 years of experience with a wide variety of dogs. She was awarded Best of Boston by Boston Magazine in 2006. She won Best Trainer from Beantown Tails yearly from 2008 – 2010. She also placed in the Boston A-List competition every year from 2012 – 2014.
