Semper Fi Service Dogs rescues shelter dogs and trains them as service dogs for Veterans. They utilize an “unparalleled ‘Pack Training System'” that includes both group and private classes. The program focuses on developing a strong, lifelong bond between the Veteran and their dog, ensuring the safety of all participants.

The training is described as challenging, involving continuous learning and practice of commands. The organization also offers to train a Veteran’s existing dog if it is suitable for service work. Their goal is to provide comprehensive training that helps Veterans return to a normal life with the assistance of their canine companion.

Testimonials

“I don’t feel forgotten. Ryan checks in on me and Rocky on a regular basis, even after I officially adopted Rocky. I love the outings that we do because it helps me continue to be able to live my life with newfound confidence.”
– Bob

“I am so thankful for Ryan and his Semper-Fi Service Dogs team. My dog, General Mattis, and I have been in training for 14 months. Ryan has turned my dog around from timid, aggressive, and scared to a well-behaved, content boy. My family constantly mentions how surprised they are with my dog’s confidence and joy every time they see him again.”
– Lauren

“I am an Iraq War Veteran living with PTSD, its symptoms, and the problems that come with it. My Service Dog, “Sazzy,” has had a huge, positive impact on my life. She is my companion, my comforter, my protection, and my family. She provides unconditional love and is always there for me. She can tell when I am anxious, fearful, sad, or sick and always finds a way to comfort me.”
– Jack

About the Trainer

Semper Fi Service Dogs, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing trained service dogs to Veterans. They offer 100% free professional service dog training for qualifying Veterans, which includes rescue fees, initial vaccinations, and all necessary equipment. They also have the capability to train a Veteran’s existing dog if it is suitable for the program.

The organization is led by Ryan Onda, a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and Master Trainer, who has developed an “unparalleled ‘Pack Training System’.” This system is designed to help Veterans suffering from PTSD, MST, and TBI. They rescue dogs from shelters, including those described as “broken” or “unwanted,” and train them to serve and provide emotional support.

Semper Fi Service Dogs aims to foster a special, lifelong bond between the Veteran and their dog, providing both with confidence and freedom. Their mission, “NO VET LEFT BEHIND, NEVER ALONE,” focuses on providing 160 veterans with a service dog by 2025 and replicating their model nationwide to help reduce the veteran suicide rate. They have successfully rescued and trained 59 dogs and placed them with 52 Veterans.
