Testimonials

Jamie is an amazing trainer. I adopted a very nervous puppy from a shelter. Jamie made learning so much fun my dog loves her. She went from scared of everything to a confident and obedient 1 year old. My pup is going to be 2 years in June and she is a confident service dog in training about to graduate to full service dog in early summer. Jamie works with your dog and adapts methods your dog works best with unlike other trainers who try to make your dog fit a mold. I highly recommend her. My pup, Iris, is the most obedient dog I ever had!
– Jamie

Jamie has been incredible in helping my Frenchies, Cooper and Maggie. They both struggle with anxiety, which has led to some aggression between them, and Jamie’s expertise has made a huge difference.

From the start, Jamie provided clear, practical strategies tailored to their needs. We’ve already seen so much progress, and I feel more confident handling their behavior. If you have a dog with anxiety or behavioral challenges, I highly recommend her to anyone who is has behavior problems with their animals.

Torin is a lifesaver! We have an Airedale puppy who is intensely energetic and strong-willed, and Torin has expertly guided me through every challenge from house training and leash training to structured play and healthy outlets for breed behavior (such as digging, in the case of my terrier). Torin brings a wealth of knowledge to every session, tons of experience, and also compassion — both for you and your dog! The result is effective and humane training. We’ve made such tremendous progress in just a couple months! I honestly can’t imagine raising this pup without Torin’s help. Thank you, Torin!!

About the Trainer

Side Quest Dog Training helps dog owners build connection-based training experiences focused on real-world skills and behavioral progress. They offer private coaching and themed group classes that take training beyond the classroom into environments like farmers markets, cafes, and Halloween events in Salem. Their approach adapts to each dog’s unique needs, avoiding one-size-fits-all methods, and specializes in reactivity, recall, anxiety, leash manners, and service dog preparation. Trainers Jamie and Torin work with nervous, reactive, energetic, and anxious dogs of all ages, emphasizing humane, individualized strategies that celebrate small victories. They support dogs through puppyhood, adolescence, and adulthood, with proven success in transforming fearful or aggressive behaviors into confident, obedient companions.

Their programs are designed to reduce stress for both dogs and handlers, using positive, adaptive techniques that prioritize the dog’s emotional well-being.
