Sit Means Sit of SWFL offers a range of training programs. Puppy Lessons are customized, food-based training for puppies up to 20 weeks, focusing on foundation cues, loose leash walking, impulse control, and addressing puppy challenges like anxiety. Private Lessons are one-hour customized sessions held in the client’s home, at their facility, or in the community, suitable for new clients desiring hands-on involvement or existing clients needing refreshers.

The Day Train program allows clients to drop their dog off for the day, with trainers laying a foundation and owners reinforcing learned behaviors at home. Board & Train programs are offered in 5, 10, and 15-day durations, providing an immersive experience where dogs learn the patented system, leash boundaries, and impulse control around distractions. The 5-day program includes a photo, phone call update, custom video, and a private lesson at pick-up, while longer programs are recommended for severe issues or off-leash control.

For existing clients, Board & Review offers refreshers or fine-tuning, and Daycare promotes social interactions, proper dog body language, and basic obedience reinforcement. Group Classes, also for existing clients, are available in 3, 6, or 12-month increments, providing structured socialization in distraction-rich environments. These classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:00 pm at their facility and Saturdays at 9:30 am at pre-determined outdoor locations.

Beyond obedience, they conduct Anxiety Seminars for pet industry professionals, rescues, and shelters, defining anxiety and its stages (dogs are not permitted). They are AKC certified evaluators for S.T.A.R. Puppy, Canine Good Citizen, Community Canine, and Urban Canine Good Citizen programs. They also offer PetTech “Pet Saver” Program classes for Pet CPR and First Aid for dogs and cats, and K-9 Caring Angels Therapy Dog Certification testing for dogs aged 1 year and older with AKC CGC certification.

About the Trainer

Sit Means Sit of SWFL is a professional dog training franchise location providing a variety of obedience training classes for all types of dogs and owners, regardless of age, breed, or severity of issues. They specialize in addressing common challenges such as anxiety, resource guarding (including food aggression and possessiveness), and general aggression issues, offering solutions like muzzle conditioning.

The business operates on an attention-based dog training system developed by Founder and CEO Fred Hassen, which utilizes a customized Sit Means Sit Collar (remote electronic dog training collar) as a primary tool. This collar is described as providing an adjustable “tap” to gain a dog’s attention, not to cause pain, and is linked with high-value items for positive conditioning. The mission of Sit Means Sit is to revolutionize the quality of life with happy, obedient, and confident dogs, emphasizing safe and efficient training that maintains a happy and relaxed attitude in dogs.

Beyond core training, Sit Means Sit of SWFL offers additional services for existing clients, including Board & Review for training refreshers and Doggie Daycare for social interaction and obedience reinforcement. They also provide AKC Evaluations for various Canine Good Citizen programs, Pet CPR and First Aid classes through the PetTech “Pet Saver” Program, and K-9 Caring Angels Therapy Dog Certification testing.

For pet industry professionals, they offer Anxiety Seminars and a Lunch & Learn Program to share their training system and address common behavioral problems. The business prides itself on customizing training sessions to meet individual client and dog personalities, aiming for the best possible training experience.

How to Get Started!

To get started, clients can schedule a complimentary evaluation or free training demonstration. During this no-cost, no-obligation session, the trainers meet with the family and dog to gain insight into the dog’s unique circumstances, including age, temperament, previous training, and desired goals. Based on this evaluation, a customized training plan is developed, and an accurate cost for achieving the goals is provided. Contact can be made by filling out an online form or calling the business.
