Sit Play Stay offers certified positive reinforcement dog training through private one-on-one sessions. Training can take place at the client’s home or at various locations around the city.
Programs cover a range of needs from puppy raising to behavior modification. They also provide training and testing for AKC Canine Good Citizen, Urban dog CGC, AKC Puppy Star, AKC Community Canine, All Level Tricks, and Virtual Home Manners. Service dog training is also available. Single sessions and packages are offered.
Pricing & Policies
Pricing Summary
All payment for pet sitting is due before the client’s departure date, while dog walking clients are charged Fridays for the week’s walks. Accepted payment methods include cash, debit/credit cards, Zelle, Venmo, and local checks.
Late fees of $5 apply every 7 days if a bill is not paid by the due date. Major holiday fees are $5 additional per visit for pet sitting and dog walking, and $10 additional per overnight and boarding.
A $15 fee applies for consultations booked 24 hours or less before the client’s departure date/time. Any meet and greets after the first one incur an additional $10 fee. A $20 fee is charged if the wrong key is left, requiring a return visit. A 15% convenience fee is applied to any walk/visit booked 24 hours or less.
Policies
For non-holiday and non-summer periods, cancellations made 8 or more days prior to a reservation receive a full refund. Cancellations with 4-7 days’ notice receive a 50% refund, and those with 3 or fewer days’ notice receive no refund.
During major national holidays, the summer period (June 1-Sept 10), or for pet sitting reservations longer than 20 days, cancellations made 15 or more days prior receive a full refund. Cancellations with 10-14 days’ notice receive a 50% refund, and those with 9 or fewer days’ notice receive no refund.
Clients returning home early or departing later than scheduled are required to pay for the full reservation amount, with no refunds for early returns or late departures. Regular monthly dog walking clients must give two weeks’ notice to discontinue service, or they will be charged for one week of service. Clients are responsible for medical costs if their pet needs veterinary care, with a $40/hour fee if the sitter takes the pet to the vet. A $20 restocking fee plus the cost of items applies if supplies run out or are not provided.
About the Trainer
Whitney Duncan, owner and certified trainer, founded Sit Play Stay in 2015. She offers professional dog training services with a background in the pet industry, including over 15 years of experience working with dogs.
Sit Play Stay provides private one-on-one training, ranging from puppy raising to behavior modification. They specialize in certified positive reinforcement training and offer Canine Good Citizenship testing and training.
Whitney is an AKC Evaluator for various programs, including Canine Good Citizen, Urban dog CGC, AKC Puppy Star, AKC Community Canine, All Level Tricks, and Virtual Home Manners. She is also a mentor trainer for Animal Behavior College and FETCH students.
Accomplishments
Whitney Duncan is the owner and certified trainer of Sit Play Stay, which she founded in 2015. She holds certifications as an Animal Behavior College Dog Trainer (ABCDT 14120) since 2007 and an Animal Behavior College Service Dog Trainer (ABCSD 90188) since 2024.
With over 15 years of experience, Whitney previously worked as a Veterinary Technician and in the Behavior Management Department at the Jacksonville Humane Society, where she evaluated and trained hundreds of dogs and cats for adoption. She is also an AKC Evaluator (94044) for various AKC programs and a mentor trainer for Animal Behavior College and FETCH students.

This allows her to schedule a dedicated call to thoroughly discuss pet care or training needs. Training needs are discussed in depth over the phone to determine if assistance can be provided. New clients receive a free initial meet and greet, with an exception for last-minute bookings.
