Sits and Tricks Training employs a “Concept Training” approach, which focuses on teaching dogs core concepts through fun, no-pressure games and exercises. This method aims to build confidence, optimism, calmness, focus, impulse control, tolerance of frustration, susceptibility to reward, and grit, leading to real-life results and a stronger dog-owner bond.

They offer both private one-on-one training, designed with flexible, hourly sessions, and small group classes. Group classes are typically 6-week courses, with some being 4 or 8 weeks, held weekly at various locations. Speciality classes include Barn Hunt, Flyball, Agility, Dock Diving, and Lure Coursing, with options for fun runs, basics, and team training. Seminars and workshops are also offered periodically, focusing on specific topics or games.

Raquel Neighoff, a native of Southern Lancaster County, founded Sits and Tricks Training in 2011 to offer various dog training services to residents of Lancaster County. The business focuses on “Concept Training,” an innovative approach that uses fun, no-pressure games and exercises to teach dogs core concepts like Confidence, Optimism, Calmness, Focus, and Impulse Control. This method aims to transform dogs by addressing underlying conceptual gaps rather than just problem behaviors, fostering a positive and rewarding environment that builds confidence and strengthens the dog-owner relationship.

Sits and Tricks Training provides both private one-on-one training and group classes. They also offer various sports activities and interests, including barn hunting, flyball, agility, dock diving, and lure coursing. The trainer, Raquel, is a Certified Pro Dog Trainer through Absolute Dogs programs and is also certified in Pet Emergency CPR and First Aid.

Accomplishments

Raquel Neighoff has over 20 years of experience working with animals and as a trainer. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Behavior, Training & Enrichment & Animal Biotechnology & Conservation from Delaware Valley University.

She is a Certified Pro Dog Trainer through Absolute Dogs programs (ProDogTrainer, Geek, Genius, Coaching, Club). Raquel is also certified in Pet Emergency CPR and First Aid, and holds certifications as a Wildlife Courier and in Capture and Transport. She is a certified and approved AKC Evaluator and is working towards completing requirements as a Do More With Your Dog Evaluator. She was one of three approved trainers for the Pets for Vets Lancaster County Chapter.
