Dog Training Methodology
Methods:
- ✓ Positive Reinforcement Only
SixPaws Dog Training offers both group classes and private training sessions. Group classes, titled “Basic Obedience and Social Manners,” are divided into Level 1 for beginners and Level 2 for intermediate dogs. Level 1 is a five-week program costing $180, designed for dogs 18 weeks and older, covering fundamental skills like Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Leave-it, and Loose Leash walk. Level 2 builds on these skills by adding distractions and difficulty, including exercises with Sit/Down/Stand, Leash walk with Heel, and Place. Group classes are held outdoors at Juanamaria Park in Ventura, and dogs must be fully vaccinated and get along with other dogs.
Private training sessions are customized one-on-one lessons that can take place at the client’s home or a park. These sessions address both basic obedience skills and specific behavior issues such as barking, jumping, nipping, chewing, leash pulling, separation anxiety, and resource guarding. The process begins with an “Initial Consult and Assessment” to identify goals and evaluate the dog’s temperament, leading to a personalized training plan.
A specialized “Puppy Headstart” program is available, consisting of a puppy consult and two training sessions for puppies at 14 and 16 weeks old. This program prepares puppies to join group classes at 18 weeks by reviewing normal puppy behaviors and providing management tips.

Testimonials
“We took our German Shepard to Veronique’s Basic Training Class. It was the perfect setting to work on some basic skills with our pup. The class met only an hour a week at local park in Ventura. Veronique has a very simple yet effective training plan to lay a great foundation. Our dog is a much better listener even with ditractions. The class size is small so you can get a lot of attention from Veronique. The dogs in our class were of all levels and sizes. I recommend you check her classes!”
– Danielle G.
“AMAZED by the difference I saw in my dogs after we worked with Veronique! I have 2 four year old huskies and was skeptical about training them past the puppy stage. I wasn’t sure how receptive they would be, especially because one wasn’t very food focused. After a couple sessions with Veronique, I couldn’t believe the difference! Now on walks they’re attuned to me and listening for direction instead of trying to lead the walk on their own! They sit and wait before crossing the road, which is a major improvement because before they would pull me into the street. They even understand let’s go LEFT vs RIGHT, which was shocking! Veronique paid special attention to their very different personalities and figured out what was best for them. If you’re looking into dog training I 100% recommend Veronique. She’s patient and kind and my dogs love her! Well worth the investment (which is a good price in comparison to other options!!)”
– Katherine B.
“My dog Chloe is a different dog since training with SixPaws Dog School, before she had separation anxiety every time we left the house and that is now gone!! She has done great with basic commands as well. We couldn’t be happier with the results and absolutely recommend Veronique.”

How to Get Started!
For private training, the first step is a meet-and-greet session, which includes an assessment of the dog and a discussion of goals. The initial consult helps determine the number of sessions needed and a customized training plan. Clients can contact SixPaws Dog Training via phone or email, or by filling out a contact form that requests information about the type of training desired, the dog’s age, breed, and name.
