Southern Coast K9 offers comprehensive K9 handler training classes for law enforcement, military, and security personnel. Courses run Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm, with registration at 8:30 am on the first day.
Programs include a Four-Week Detection Dog Handler’s Course for inexperienced handlers, focusing on effective searching, training setup, maintenance schedules, record keeping, and court preparation. The Six-Week Patrol Dog Handlers’ Course instructs K9 teams on proper usage of police patrol dogs, including K9 control, suspect searching, and training setup.
For trainers, there’s a Four-Week Detection Dog Trainer Course covering odor protocol, problem-solving, training situations, maintenance schedules, and proper detection dog selection. A Six-Week Patrol Trainer Course guides K9 Trainers on handler training methods for police patrol dogs. Additionally, a Four-Week Detection Dog Instructor’s Course provides guidance on instruction delivery, visual aids, and hands-on assistance. Intensive 3-Day Decoy Seminars are also offered, focusing on practical techniques like hidden sleeve and bite suit techniques, grip development, and preventing injuries.

Training courses range from $450 for a 3-day Decoy Seminar to $6000 for a 6-week Patrol Handler or Trainer Course. Four-week Detection Handler, Trainer, or Instructor Courses are priced at $4000.
