Splash Dog offers hydrotherapy services using both a custom-built pool and a water treadmill. The pool is a 23’x13′ heated, indoor, in-ground facility with water maintained between 88-92 degrees, which helps relax muscles, decrease pain, muscle spasms, and stiffness. A gently sloping ramp allows for easy entry and exit, and dogs wear fitted life-vests for safety. During swim sessions, dogs can rest on an in-water bench.

The water treadmill allows for changes in water level to adjust resistance and buoyancy, targeting individual muscle groups and injuries. This therapy lessens weight bearing on limbs, reduces pain, and helps build cardiovascular strength and endurance. The water temperature can also be adjusted for relaxation and pain alleviation.

Hydrotherapy at Splash Dog enhances overall condition, speeds recovery from surgery or injury, improves circulation, coordination, flexibility, and balance. It builds strength, muscle mass, and stamina, provides cardiovascular conditioning without joint strain, and aids in weight management. It also helps reduce pain, swelling, and stiffness, improves range of motion, reestablishes neuro-muscular coordination, and relaxes tight muscles. These services are beneficial for conditions such as arthritis, obesity, hip/elbow dysplasia, chronic pain, and for conditioning competition and show dogs.

Swim sessions are 1/2-hour long, including resting and drying time, while treadmill sessions are typically 15 minutes, with options for 5-minute increments. All sessions are by appointment only, and dogs are accompanied in the water by a swim assistant for guidance and safety.

Policies

Every dog requires veterinary consent prior to beginning hydrotherapy and must be up-to-date on rabies vaccinations or titers. Appointments are scheduled every half hour, and clients are expected to arrive on time; sessions will end at the scheduled time even if the client arrives late.

A 24-hour notice is required for cancellations. Clients will be charged for the session if they cancel with less than 12 hours notice, except in emergency situations. Dogs with infectious conditions should not swim until the condition has cleared. Splash Dog reserves the right to refuse treatment of any dog or to cancel any session due to unforeseen circumstances. Clients are advised not to feed their dog within two hours of the swim session and to relieve their dog prior to arriving at Splash Dog.
