Star City Canine Training Club

Star City Canine Training Club offers full-length classes typically running for 6 or 7 weeks, with “mini class sessions” of 3 or 4 weeks sometimes available, especially in summer and at year-end. Sessions generally start in January, March, May, August or September, and September or October.

Classes cover a range of disciplines including Agility, Obedience & Rally (from Puppy Kindergarten to advanced competition levels), Scent Sports, Pet Therapy preparation, and Conformation Handling. Most classes are held indoors at their Apperson Drive facility, while agility classes are outdoors at Mudlick Road, and some scent sport classes may be held at various indoor and outdoor locations.

Pricing Summary

Money raised through class fees, events, and donations funds operating costs. Members are eligible for reduced class prices through the Training Membership program. Contributions to the organization are not tax-deductible.

Policies

All class registrations are online and are on a first registered-first rostered basis. Classes tend to fill quickly, so early registration is advised. Registrations are for one dog/one handler teams unless otherwise stated.

Dogs must be leashed and under control at all times unless instructed otherwise by the instructor, and owners are expected to clean up after their dogs. If a class is full, individuals can email the appropriate Chair to be added to a waitlist, and if enough interest exists, an additional section of the class may be added.

Star City Canine Training Club is an AKC-affiliated, Roanoke Valley-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing quality training opportunities in dog sports and activities that promote responsible dog ownership. They aim to advance the welfare of dogs and dog lovers through education in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

Star City Canine Training Club is an AKC-affiliated organization. Some of their members are licensed Pet Therapy Team Evaluators and Instructors by Pet Partners, Inc., enabling them to provide exceptional PT Team training and regional evaluation support.

How to Get Started!

To get started, dog owners can register for classes online. Classes open for online registration approximately three weeks prior to the start of each session. If a desired class is full, individuals can email the relevant Chair to be placed on a waitlist.
