Training is customized per dog and includes positive reinforcement techniques. Owners are invited to participate in final sessions to learn how to continue training at home. Some programs include video and photo updates, though clients have reported inconsistent communication and lack of promised media. Follow-up sessions are sometimes offered to reinforce training.

Testimonials

Our nonprofit Dog Rescue paid up front for 6 sessions. Once we did the assessment and 1st session, we determined it wasn’t the right type of training for our rescue dog. We requested a refund for the remaining sessions, and he refused saying there are no refunds. Nowhere on his website does it say this. Our community-funded nonprofit can’t afford this loss, but it doesn’t matter to him. Very disappointing.
Hopefully he will eventually do the right thing.

I paid over 2,000 for 3 weeks of training for my puppy. I did not get what I paid for. I was promised at least 2 times a week updates with videos and photos. I had to call to request updates. I ended up getting photos on 2 occasions and never a video. In making my decision to use this business, I always spoke with one person who told me how he would do the training. I never saw him or talked to him. He turned the handling over to someone else. When I picked up my puppy after 3 weeks, she was following some of his commands but not all. I got her home and had the same experience but she followed my commands even less. I contacted both persons but never had another response from.the original person who im guessing is the owner. Plans were made for a follow up to get the pup on track. I had to reschedule a few days in advance. The day of the new appointment, I received a call about 45 minutes before the scheduled time that he would not be able to make it. This appointment was never rescheduled. Basically I feel like I paid over 2,000 for 3 weeks of puppy sitting. There was never another offer to make it right. When my pup went there I was instructed to bring something she really liked, so I brought her favorite toy..I forgot to ask for it when I picked her up but since then have asked for it several times and have not received. I would never use or recommend the service.

This place is amazing. The training program is wonderful as are the trainers. I have 3 very active German Shepherds and there is no way my household would be able to manage them without Starr Dog. Starr Dog has helped me get their behavior in line so they can live and work together in my home with my family without having to be bouncing off walls, in my face, jumping, fighting, or rough housing.

I don’t know what is better, the excellence level of their training or the trainers themselves! Yashan and Krystyna are dedicated, knowledgeable and accommodating. We chose to have our male GSD do obedience board and train. Excellent results and so glad we did it! We were able to integrate with the training at the very end of his time at Starr Dog so we could continue working with him at home. Very, very happy with our results and will continue to give Starr Dog our business!

About the Trainer

Starr Dog is a dog training business that offers flexible and customizable training programs designed to help dogs and their owners reach their full potential. Trainers use positive reinforcement and reward-based techniques to make learning fun and effective for both dogs and owners, with a strong focus on teaching owners how to communicate with and understand their dogs. The team consists of trainers with diverse backgrounds and expertise who work together to handle a wide range of dog training needs. In addition to training, Starr Dog provides pet boarding services. Their programs include board and train options, with some trainers offering in-home follow-up sessions to help owners maintain progress.

Trainers emphasize individualized attention and tailor programs to each dog’s unique situation, targeting behaviors such as reactivity, leash pulling, separation anxiety, and basic obedience. They also work with multi-dog households and active breeds like German Shepherds, helping manage energy, jumping, and aggression. Some clients report excellent results with obedience and behavior modification, while others have raised concerns about communication, lack of updates, lost items, and refund policies.

The business serves clients seeking intensive training programs, with options for both facility-based boarding and home integration sessions. Trainers are reported to include Yashan and Krystyna, and Conor has been mentioned in negative reviews.

How to Get Started!

Prospective clients are encouraged to contact the business to schedule an assessment or initial consultation. Training begins with an evaluation of the dog’s behavior and needs, followed by a customized program. Some clients report speaking with one representative who then assigns training to another trainer without further direct involvement.
