Dog Training Methodology
The United Doberman Club (UDC) offers national and local competitive activities and club programs. These include dog and litter registration, a breed survey, a club magazine, and an email list for members. The UDC holds an annual National Specialty Show featuring obedience, conformation, tracking, and schutzhund events, along with seminars and their Breed Survey.
The Breed Survey program provides owners and breeders with in-depth information about their dogs’ conformation, character, and health, encouraging the testing of breeding stock. The UDC also offers an individual dog registration program that tracks titles earned from recognized clubs and a litter registration program for litters from evaluated parents with advanced working titles. The club promotes the Doberman’s working nature by providing competition opportunities, sponsoring seminars, and awarding special versatility titles to Dobermans recognized in multiple venues. They also have specific awards like the IGP3 Club, Versatility Companion (VC), Versatility Companion Excellent (VCX), Supreme Silver, Supreme Gold, and Supreme Award of Merit (SAM), as well as an Annual Service Dog Award.
About the Trainer
The United Doberman Club (UDC) is a non-profit organization established in 1990, dedicated to preserving and protecting the Doberman Pinscher’s heritage as a working dog. They aim to advance the breed’s interests by educating members and the public on working ability, conformation, temperament, health, breeding, training, and maintenance of the “Total Doberman,” which is sound in mind and body.
The UDC offers a variety of programs and competitive activities for Doberman owners. These include national and local events such as obedience, conformation, tracking, and schutzhund (IGP) trials, as well as seminars. They also provide a Breed Survey program for in-depth evaluation of breeding stock’s conformation, character, and health, and maintain dog and litter registration programs that track earned titles.
As an official source for AKC recognition of Doberman working titles, the UDC allows IPO titles earned at their sanctioned events to be added to a dog’s official AKC pedigree. They are affiliated with the American Working Dog Federation (AWDF) and the International Dobermann Club (IDC), fielding teams to international competitions. The club publishes “FOCUS,” a quarterly magazine featuring articles on breed history, Doberman training, and club news, and operates an email list for members to discuss Doberman-related matters.
The UDC also recognizes outstanding Dobermans through various awards, including the IGP3 Club for handler-owner trained dogs, Versatility Companion (VC) and Versatility Companion Excellent (VCX) titles, and Supreme Silver, Gold, and Award of Merit (SAM) for high-achieving Dobermans. They also present an Annual Service Dog Award to honor Doberman and handler teams working in service, search and rescue, police/fire, or therapy roles.
Accomplishments
The United Doberman Club (UDC) was officially incorporated in 1991. It is recognized as the official source for AKC recognition of working titles for Dobermans, allowing IPO titles earned at UDC sanctioned events to be added to AKC pedigrees.
The UDC is a member of the American Working Dog Federation (AWDF) and the International Dobermann Club (IDC), regularly fielding teams to compete in their annual championships, including the FCI World Championships. The club publishes “FOCUS,” a quarterly full-color magazine, and has established a comprehensive Breed Survey program for Dobermans. They offer various awards, including the IGP3 Club, Versatility Companion (VC), Versatility Companion Excellent (VCX), Supreme Silver, Supreme Gold, and the Supreme Award of Merit (SAM), which is the highest award a Doberman can earn through UDC.
