Dog Training Methodology

Tails of Success offers a Free Demo where they come to your home to assess your dog’s specific issues.

In Home Private Lessons are tailored packages designed to meet specific needs, working one-on-one with the dog and owner where problems occur. These programs aim for fast results through easy-to-learn techniques, building confidence in both home and public settings.

The Board and Train program involves the dog staying in the trainer’s home for a 2-week period to address everyday life issues through training. After the program, dogs are expected to be off-leash and confident in any situation. This program includes follow-up lessons in the home and a lifetime guarantee for free additional lessons.

Testimonials

“I have 2 dogs that became Registered therapy dogs. Josh trained Sherman and I – mostly me, because I didn’t have a lot of experience training. I know with complete certainty that Sherman and I would NEVER have become a licensed therapy team with Josh’s expertise and guidance. He was with us every step of the way, first with group obedience classes, then with individual training. This continued on to more isolated consults. Josh can do anything that is needed to get you and your dog to the finish line. A few years later, our second pup, Coco, and I went back to Josh so that she could also become a licensed therapy dog……and she did! I was a little more seasoned at this point but Josh was (again) the driving force that got us to our goal. Whatever your needs, no matter how minor and specific, or major and wide-ranging. Josh can do it all. Trust him, he is dedicated and loves your dog, before he even meets them.”

About the Trainer

Tails of Success Dog Training, owned by Josh Jeffers, offers personalized dog training services focusing on in-home private lessons and a unique board and train program. They aim to help dog owners gain control over common behavioral issues and build stronger relationships with their pets.

The business specializes in addressing problems such as coming when called, leash pulling, running out the door, jumping up, destructive chewing and digging, extended sit and stay, extended down and stay, no begging, and all general behavioral issues. They emphasize tailored programs, stating “No cookie cutter dog training!” and promise fast results through easy-to-learn techniques.

A key advantage is their mobile service, as they drive to the client’s home for free demonstrations and private lessons. The board and train program is conducted within the trainer’s home, not a large facility, and includes a lifetime guarantee for free additional lessons. Josh’s goal is to help people “live beyond the leash” and be confident with their dogs in any setting.

Accomplishments

Josh Jeffers has been training dogs since 2010. His career began at Petco, where he helped hundreds of people and served as a Dog Training Mentor, overseeing over 600 group class sessions and mentoring new trainers.

While at Petco, Josh also worked with K9s for Warriors, an organization providing service dogs to veterans. He further developed his skills with Mayo Clinic’s “Caring Canines” Unit, running seminars for handlers, and became a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator in Florida. Before owning Tails of Success, he was the head trainer for Sit Happens for six years.

How to Get Started!

Clients can start by calling for a free in-home demonstration. During this demo, the trainer will meet with the client and their dog at home to assess specific issues they wish to address.
