Testimonials

“I just wanted to take a moment to tell you about my experience with Dana Escobar. I am currently enrolled in her Reactive Dog class…for the second time. Dana has been an absolute joy to work with. She is so smart, patient, kind, and extremely knowledgeable about how to help reactive dogs. My story is I have a 7 y/o Portuguese Water Dog, who was treated a year ago for a brain tumor using medication and radiation. We lived away from home for a month during his radiation therapy. He had treatment 5 days a week for 4 weeks straight. During treatment, he started up with these awful barking jags at the Vets and at the hotel where we stayed. This then translated into barking when we were anywhere in public. He became more reactive to any sort of new or unusual stimulus. He would pull at other dogs, bikes, people…anything. He would bark and whine if I was on the phone….it was very difficult. I knew I needed help. So I enlisted the help of an online trainer. I tried a different program before meeting Dana. The previous trainer gave me some help for the leash reactivity. But it wasn’t nearly enough. It seemed like we weren’t getting to the root of the problem. Then I met Dana. Dana has the scientific understanding of why and how reactive dog training works. More importantly, she helped me to figure out exactly the issue that was causing my dog so much reactivity. After my first 6 week course with Dana, I was finally able to take in person classes at Tails U Win. At the beginning of this journey, I was highly doubtful if that would ever happen. I decided to take a second course with her, because I still needed help. Dana went way above and beyond to do her own research and created a customized plan to help me with Rocky being just overstimulated in general and not being able to regulate his emotions. She wasn’t just giving me text book answers….she did research to design something very specific for my dog. I find it absolutely amazing that she has taught me how to rewire my dog’s brain. Rocky can now: -Walk on a loose leash and NOT pull at a single distraction, -Attend in person group classes and not react to the other dogs in close proximity -Settle…this is a major accomplishment -Disengage from distractions -Slow his breathing with the “take a breath” exercises -Deal with being distracted and upset without going into full blown reaction I am sure you know how awesome Dana is, and I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate working with her and all of the staff at Tails U Win.
Thanks to Dana’s dedication and willingness to go above and beyond, I do believe that my dream of being able to compete with Rocky in something, whether it be in Obedience or Scent Work, is now a possibility. Everyone with a reactive dog should take Dana’s class to gain a better understanding of dog behavior. I have learned so much about my dog, and have a greatly improved relationship with him.
Thank you so much for your time!”
