Taming the Wild offers a variety of training programs tailored to different needs and ages. Their Board and Train programs include Basic (14 days, on-leash), Enhanced (21 days, includes remote collar enhancement and off-leash commands), and Advanced (28 days, fully off-leash). These programs cover fundamental behaviors like heel, place, down, stay, sit, no jumping, wait, and control through doorways, with advanced programs adding off-leash proficiency. All Board and Train programs include necessary equipment, a graduation turnover lesson, and free lifetime refresher training.
For younger dogs, Puppy Group Classes are available for those under fifteen weeks, focusing on socialization, foundational training, and addressing early bad behaviors. Private Lessons offer one-on-one instruction with a professional trainer, available virtually or at their indoor facility, allowing for customized training plans.
Behavioral Adjustment Programs are designed for dogs with persistent fears, obsessive-compulsive disorders, phobias, or aggressions. These programs require an initial evaluation and aim to teach dogs to manage conflicts with confidence. Additionally, they offer a five-week Intro to Dog Agility class for dogs four months and older, teaching them to navigate various agility obstacles and build communication skills with their owners.
Pricing & Policies
Pricing Summary
Board and Train programs are priced at $1900.00 for Basic (14 days), $3500.00 for Enhanced (21 days), and $4600.00 for Advanced (28 days). Dog boarding costs $66.50 per night for Standard/LG accommodations, with a Peak Season surcharge applied during major holidays and local school breaks.
Other training prices include a Behavioral Evaluation for $128.00, Puppy Group Class and Basic Obedience Group Class at $51.00 per class, Intro to Agility Class for $179.50, and Private Lessons at $128.00 per one-hour session. Additional charges may apply if the dog runs out of food or for administering injectable medications.
Policies
For Board and Train programs, drop-offs are by appointment. If a dog is dropped off after 4 PM, training begins the following day, incurring an additional night’s boarding fee. Sunday drop-offs extend the program by one day, with turnover lessons scheduled for Monday, also incurring an extra boarding fee. Owners must bring enough food for the dog’s stay plus one week, along with current immunization records (Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella, Canine Influenza H3N2/H3N8) and any necessary medications. Required forms include the Terms of Service Agreement and the Pre-Board and Train Questionnaire. Owners should not bring toys, beds (unless for large dogs), bowls, collars, or leashes.
If a dog runs out of food, Taming the Wild can purchase more at an additional charge. Dogs are weighed regularly, and if a dog is not eating well, wet food can be mixed with their kibble for an added cost; owners will be contacted if weight loss becomes a concern. Training occurs Monday through Saturday, with Sundays typically being a rest day, though lagging dogs may receive extra training. Visits during Board and Train programs are allowed by appointment. Owners can call the kennel side for general well-being updates but not daily, and training questions should be directed to the trainers.
Cancellation of training without rescheduling results in forfeiture of the deposit. Changing training dates is generally not an issue if sufficient advance notice is given. Early pickup from a Board and Train program results in the forfeiture of all monies paid, with no refunds issued. The business states that training does not change a dog’s personality or bond with its owner, and dogs do not forget their owners or feel abandoned. They accept all breeds and ages of dogs, noting that older dogs can learn if healthy. Grooming services are not included, but routine brushing and bathing can be scheduled at no extra charge, and a bath is required at the end of Board and Train programs. Dogs can arrive before or stay after their training program, with per-night boarding fees applying. Post-training maintenance is crucial, especially in the first two weeks, and consistency is key. Graduates of Basic, Enhanced, or Advanced programs receive free refresher training for the lifetime of their dog. For boarding, sick dogs with contagious illnesses require veterinary clearance before admission, and all dogs must be on a leash when arriving or leaving. Pack boarding is encouraged but not required, and individual boarding is an option. Medications are administered, with an additional charge for injectables.
