Testimonials

“Thank you all very much for guiding us through two classes this Fall, Basic Obedience and CGC. Our golden retriever, Tippy, had been timid and even scared of new people and new experiences. Turned out she thrived in your classes and gained confidence week by week. Probably more important, my husband Chris and I learned so much about being good parents of Tippy and our 9-year-old lab, Poppy. Thank you for a great experience, and Happy Holidays.”
– Sue (Denver)

“Our 1.5 year old Blue Heeler- Cash- has come SUCH a long way thanks to Terroux Dog Training. He started as an anxious and reactive puppy (who had been attacked), and now less than a year later he is a confident happy pup, and we are confident happy pup parents! I never thought we would be able to take him out in public spaces around other dogs, but we now take him on walks at the lake, etc. We did the 4 week board and train, followed by a few individual sessions, a reactive dog class and now we are in the Good Canine Citizen Class. The trainers care so much and are always there when a question or concern comes up. We are so thankful we found Terroux Dog Traning!”

“I took my female Doberman though Terroux’s Canine Good Citizen training and am currently going through the Puppy Building Blocks with my 4 month old male Doberman. I can’t recommend Terroux enough! Their highly trained professionals do a fabulous job of teaching the owner how to teach their dog to ensure lifetime success. If you want a well-adjusted and well-trained pup, go with Terroux!”

About the Trainer

Terroux Dog Training is a family-run business established in 1958 in Arvada, Colorado, offering comprehensive dog training services to help owners build strong, harmonious relationships with their dogs. They provide group classes for puppies, basic obedience, advanced manners, reactive dog behavior, and AKC Canine Good Citizen certification, as well as private instruction and nationwide online training. Their signature Puppy Building Blocks program focuses on early socialization and positive reinforcement for puppies 9–17 weeks old, while their Basic Obedience course covers essential commands, leash walking, and behavior modification for dogs 4 months and older. They also offer intensive Board & Train programs for dogs needing focused behavioral work. Trainers emphasize positive reinforcement, real-life distraction training, and owner education to ensure long-term success. Their facility is shared with Ralston Valley Canine and includes supervised off-leash socialization areas. They provide lifetime follow-up support via phone or email and encourage owners to practice daily at home.

Their training philosophy combines over six decades of professional experience with modern, science-based techniques, as highlighted by founder Ted Terroux. They require up-to-date vaccinations and offer flexible online and in-person options. Their programs are designed for owners who want to actively participate in training, not just drop off their dogs.

Additional services include therapy dog preparation, gift cards, a training book for sale, and access to local dog parks. They also provide detailed vaccination and make-up policies to ensure safety and consistency in training.

Accomplishments

Established in 1958, Terroux Dog Training has over 60 years of continuous family-run experience. Trainers include Ted Terroux, Sara, Abby, Christie, Tiffany Terroux, and Rick. They have trained numerous therapy dogs, including retired therapy dog Shelby Terroux. Their programs are aligned with AVSAB recommendations for early puppy socialization.
