Testimonials

“While doing a lot of research for the area I came across The Balanced Dog buried under posts on Nextdoor. Since starting to work with Joanne I can tell my dog is a lot more confident and less anxious. After being attack by off leash dogs 3 times I thought he would never be able to be fully comfortable around strange dogs again. Now he can go into shops, walk past other dogs on the same sidewalk, and can self regulate. It isn’t just training for your dog but for the owner as well. She puts together a plan tailored to you dog and your life style and explains all the exercises from the pov of your dog and how it benefits them psychologically. I thought I was just going to get my dog to behave, but it is so much more fulfilling to know and see how much more comfortable and confident he is in his own skin.”
– R. Fleming, Ft. Collins, CO

“Choosing Joanne as our trainer was the best decision we could have made for our us and our dog. To say we struggled with our reactive 1.5 year old coonhound is an understatement, even after working with a previous trainer. After talking with Joanne for the first time on the phone, I could already tell the experience with her would be different and so much better. She was incredibly thorough and helpful before we even decided to schedule our dog’s 3 week board and train. Our dog’s reactivity was not magically fixed after he completed his 3 week board and train, especially since he practiced reactivity for so long, but Joanne gave us the foundation and knowledge we desperately needed. We still work with our dog everyday and will probably always need to manage his reactivity, but the progress he has made is incredible from where we started, and we can’t thank Joanne enough for that.”
– Melanie Ann, Ft. Collins CO

“I cannot express enough how grateful I am to have found Joanne as my dog trainer. Before Joanne, my dog Fiona was completely out of control. I had tried every training method I could find, but nothing seemed to work. Fiona never listened to me, and her recall was so terrible. I couldn’t even get her to come when I offered her an entire pan of Cinnamon Buns; believe it or not, that’s not even a joke! Fiona was very aggressive towards other dogs, and I could not go anywhere in public with her. She comes everywhere with me now- even with food/ other dogs. Joanne was recommended to me by a passerby-er on a walk when I commented on her dogs’ obedience, and my dog’s lack of it. I started with Joanne’s dog class, and it was a game changer.”
