About the Trainer
The Balanced K-9 is a dog training business founded in 2017 by Luciana von Breitenbach in Fairfield, Connecticut, specializing in behavior modification for dogs with aggression, fear, reactivity, and anxiety issues. They offer intensive Board & Train programs where dogs live in a home-like environment and receive daily structured training, socialization, and behavior correction. Their services focus on helping owners build a strong, balanced bond with their dogs through humane, instinct-based methods that avoid harsh techniques. They serve clients throughout New England, Metro NY, and NJ, and provide follow-up support after training to ensure long-term success. The business emphasizes real-world training environments, including walks, car rides, parks, and pet-friendly stores, to prepare dogs for everyday life.
They offer three levels of intensive behavior modification programs: 4-week for minor issues, 6-week for intense aggression, and 8-week for severe cases with bite history or extreme anxiety. They also provide puppy training (3 weeks), private consultations, and phone/video coaching. All programs require a veterinary clearance and include daily video updates for owners. Luciana personally leads training and consultations, and the team provides hands-on support during reintegration sessions at the owner’s home.
The Balanced K-9 does not offer grooming, boarding for non-training purposes, or day care. Their unique advantage is their focus on severe behavioral cases that other trainers may decline, with proven success helping over 500 dogs achieve safety and calmness without punishment-based methods.
Accomplishments
Has helped over 500 dogs achieve behavioral improvement since 2017. Founder Luciana von Breitenbach has over 7 years of specialized experience in aggression and fear-based behavior modification.
