The Canine Professor

The Canine Professor offers several training programs. Their Virtual Dog Training is a customized 3-month program designed to help owners learn strategies for unwanted behaviors, understand their dog’s motivations, pinpoint root causes, and understand their dog’s feelings. All virtual sessions are recorded, and clients receive lifetime access to training and support sessions. Single virtual sessions are also available.

For Service Dogs, they offer a Doctorate – Service Dog Certification, which is a 1-year academy. This program is tailored to specific needs and goals, training dogs for tasks such as Diabetes Alert, PTSD Assistance, Mobility/Stability, Retrieval, Psychiatric, Autism, ADHD, and Hearing Assistance. Dogs must be 100% distraction-proof in public and pass the Public Access Test. Due to the intensive nature, they work with only two teams at a time.

General training focuses on addressing common behavioral issues like leash pulling, jumping on guests, excessive barking, and not listening. They aim to help dogs listen happily and reliably, even when distracted. They also offer Canine Good Citizens Preparation to help dogs achieve good manners at home and in the community.

Their Boarding School, referred to as “Total Mind Reset,” is designed for dogs with severe behavioral dysfunction, separation anxiety, extreme fearfulness, or those described as “complete brats.” It also provides a solid foundation for puppies. This program aims to quickly change behavior, with the understanding that continued owner commitment is crucial once the dog returns home.

Christie Mault, the owner of The Canine Professor, began her dog training career in 2001. She is a graduate of National K-9’s Master Trainer Course.

Her certifications include Behavior Modification, Basic and Advanced Obedience, Search and Rescue, Scent Detection, Service Dog Training, Puppy Development, Canine Massage, and Canine Nutrition Consultant. Christie has successfully helped thousands of dogs avoid shelters and thrive in their forever homes.
