Dog Training Methodology
Methods:
- ✓ Balanced Training
The Dog Trainer offers comprehensive training programs based on dog psychology and a blend of established and modern methodologies. Their On-Leash Obedience Training covers commands such as Loose leash walk, Wait, Sit, Heel, Leave it, Quiet, Down, Place, and basic manners, with Sit, Down, and Place commands including an implied stay. This program is available through private lessons at their facility (approximately 4 lessons at $90 each) or as a 14-day Board and Train program ($800), which includes a “go home” lesson, a training plan, and a follow-up lesson.
Puppy Training addresses common issues like housetraining, barking, play-biting, and chewing, along with first-aid, confidence building, puppy commands, nutrition, and socialization. Private puppy training is offered for $90 for a 1.5-hour session. A specialized five-week Potty Training program, priced at $1800, focuses on outdoor elimination and includes commands like “let’s go,” “sit,” “place,” and “Go Potty,” along with basic manners and social skills.
Behavior Modification services target unwanted behaviors such as barking, chewing, jumping, digging, car sickness, and eating inappropriate items. They also address anxiety issues related to storms, strangers, loud noises, and other fears, as well as aggression towards people, dogs, other pets, food, or toys. These services are provided through private lessons or a board and train program.
Off-Leash Obedience Training aims for reliable verbal control of dogs in high-distraction environments. This program is offered after on-leash obedience training as a 14-day program for $1250, or as a combined 21-day program including both on-leash and off-leash obedience for $1800. Both off-leash options include a go-home training lesson, a follow-up lesson, a training plan, and a vocabulary list. Protection Training is available for personal or property protection, with personal protection costing $1500 and property protection fees agreed upon based on specific needs. Boundary Training, priced at $90 per lesson, teaches dogs to stay within chosen boundaries. All training programs emphasize proper social behavior and integrate dogs into a pack atmosphere.

Testimonials
“We are so happy with the training and the new balanced Autumn! Ron was hopeful, but still skeptical there would be any true change in her behavior. Needless to say, he is very happy and said you guys did an awesome job! Many thanks!”
– Traci, Gahanna
“We contacted Chris soon after we adopted our two year old Yorkie mix from a rescue group. He exhibited some aggressive behavior around food and was not able to listen to commands. Chris began by teaching us basic obedience techniques in our home and we practice with him on our own for about 10 minutes a day. We have seen a dramatic improvement in only two lessons… he can sit, “wait”, will stay in his bed/spot, etc. He is less aggressive around food and shows us more respect as his owners. We will likely use Chris’ facility to board our dog for trips since we know he loves Chris and he will be socialized in the right way with the other dogs there. We highly recommend Chris and are so thankful for his help!”

“When Linus arrived at 5months of age, he was wild, prey driven, and athletic. (Bad combination for a walk in the park.) Having seen what a few sessions with Chris did to eliminate undesirable and overwhelming behavior in my son’s 75- pound dog, I scheduled a consultation. I explained that I wanted Linus to have freedom to run off lead during appropriate outings and to demonstrate compliance and good manners, a very tall order. Unbelievably, he was doing so well after two sessions that I arranged for the arrival of Lucy, a headstrong, vocal 6 week old with an attitude. Needless, to say training was in order. Nine session total, and everywhere we go today people compliment the good manners of both dogs, and they are off leash except on very busy streets. Amazing. I never thought that would be possible. Chris is professional, intuitive, and effective – in a word, excellent. Thank you!”
