The Green Dog

The Green Dog offers a variety of training programs tailored to individual needs. Obedience Training consists of 5 one-hour in-home lessons for dogs aged 6 months and older, covering basic manners such as sit-stay, down-stay, heeling, loose leash walking, go-to-place, and recall. This package includes a free refresher lesson.

Puppy Lessons are a 3-lesson package for puppies 8 weeks to 6 months old, focusing on housebreaking schedules, socialization, leash walking, and foundational commands like sit, stay, leave it, drop it, name recognition, and recall using food and positive reinforcement. Lessons are scheduled every two weeks, with unlimited text, email, or Zoom support.

The Board and Train program involves a 2-week stay at the trainer’s home on a 1-acre wooded property, where dogs learn sit, stay, down, heel, loose leash walking, place, and recall. This program includes all training equipment, an e-collar, and unlimited follow-up lessons. An alternative Day Training program is available for 3 weeks, where dogs train daily Monday-Friday and return home in the evenings, with weekend lessons at the owner’s home.

Advanced Training is customized to help dogs achieve off-leash reliability, prepare for dog shows, or earn obedience titles like Rally. Basic obedience training with The Green Dog is a prerequisite. Protection Dog Training involves an evaluation to determine suitability, followed by a 3 to 6-month stay at the trainer’s home, with ongoing commitment required from the family. The business also provides in-home boarding services exclusively for clients who have previously trained with them, offering a relaxed environment and training brush-ups.

Pricing Summary

Board & Train is $2,500 for 2 weeks, including all training equipment, an e-collar, and unlimited follow-up lessons. Day Training is a 3-week program at the same cost, with daily drop-off and pick-up Monday-Friday, and includes the same perks.
Obedience Training offers a 5 one-hour in-home lesson package for $895, which includes a free refresher lesson. Individual lessons are available at $190 per lesson, with an additional cost for remote collar training if desired.
Puppy Lessons are a 3-lesson package for $425. Protection Dog Training costs $1,000 per week, requiring a minimum stay of 3 to 6 months. Advanced Training fees vary based on goals and the dog’s current training level.

Policies

Board & Train and Day Train programs require full payment at the time of drop-off. All dogs must be up to date on vaccinations, including bordetella. For Board & Train, dogs must be fully housebroken as housebreaking training is not provided during this program, though coaching can be offered. Aggressive dogs cannot be accepted into the Board & Train program; dogs must be able to co-exist with other dogs. Boarding services are exclusively for clients who have previously trained with The Green Dog. For Protection Dog Training, an evaluation is required as not all dogs are suitable for this work, and puppies must complete basic obedience first.
