Programs include: 2 Week Day Training ($1,600) from Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, covering Come, Sit, Heel, Down, Place, and Break, with two 1-hour go-home sessions. 2 Week Board & Train ($2,500) covers Come, Sit, Heel, Down, Place, Food and Door manners, Distance and Duration work, with potential for off-leash training.
Specialized programs include: 3 Week Reactive Board & Train ($3,200) for mildly anxious, fearful, or dog-reactive dogs (not for bite history), covering the same commands as the 2-week B&T. 4 Week Aggressive Board & Train ($4,400) and 5 Week Aggressive Board & Train ($4,800) are for dogs with bite history, requiring prior muzzle conditioning (with assistance provided), covering the same commands, but no off-leash work. About the Trainer
The K9 Approach is a dog training business founded by Megan Wieck and Jillian Robb, offering a loving, family-style environment for dogs. They provide various services including day care, overnight and long-term boarding, and comprehensive training packages. The founders emphasize a deep passion and innate understanding of animals, aiming to make dogs feel safe and at home while in their care.
Their services include supervised play, outdoor enrichment, doggy socialization, and individual interaction, with accommodations for dogs that prefer less engagement. They work with all dog breeds, sizes, and temperaments, including those with reactivity or aggression, and provide daily updates with photos for boarding clients.
The training programs focus on achieving balanced structure and clear understanding of commands, aiming to create well-behaved family members rather than military-style training. Programs involve complete immersion in distracting environments, visits to dog-friendly stores and patios, walks/hikes, and off-leash romps on the beach, with weekly updates and pictures provided.
Accomplishments
Megan Wieck started her dog journey in 2019, focusing on dog obedience and taking two seminars in scent work. Jillian Robb has a deep passion for animals, spending several years volunteering and socializing dogs at local ASPCA’s in Northern California, rehabilitating injured wildlife, and teaching dog obedience.
